Hi! Does anyone happen to know if a FB page has been started for parents of incoming Lincoln kindergarteners? I’ve seen posts from a couple of other elementary schools and thought I would check!
Hello,
My name is Katy Kline and I am currently a Senior at the University of Iowa studying Entrepreneurial Management and Engaged Social Innovation. This past year I have been working on my senior capstone project at Iowa which has been to create and deliver an after school entrepreneurship program for students in middle school. However, the recent outbreak has caused the program to be cancelled.

This caused me to do exactly what I would have been asking my students to do, which is to pivot when things don’t go as expected. Therefore, I have created a newsletter for students specifically in middle school although many of the activities could be used for upper elementary students as well!

The newsletter includes a wide variety of educational activities and fun topics that they can do throughout the week at home. If your student likes the newsletter and does any of the activities please send in photos to our social media pages or to [email protected] to be feature on our pages. This will be a great way to keep kids interactive and involved during their time away from school!

For more updates and to get the next newsletter (which will be released 1 week from today) follow our page Middle School Express. Thank you and I hope you and your kids enjoy the newsletter!

Two Lincoln fifth grade students had their questions chosen to ask Bill Nye, the famous scientist, during a virtual session held on November 30. These students wore their bow ties proudly when they asked their questions to Mr. Nye. Each student made us very proud!

Dear Lincoln families,

The first week of May is teacher appreciation week! To celebrate our Lincoln teachers 🥳 (who have done so much this year) the PTO would like to have a raffle of sorts. The plan is to give each teacher a balloon balloon 🎈 with a number inside. They can pop 💥 their balloon with their class and then claim a prize that goes with that number.

What we need from our families are the prizes! These should be small tokens of appreciation, silly or serious, and in the neighborhood of $15 in value. If Lincoln families can provide enough prizes, PTO can then provide a few larger prizes for the raffle. We currently have 40 staff at Lincoln.

Please contact the PTO Board with any questions. Prize donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

Manville Heights: with Cliff Haley (353 Lexington Ave)

Peninsula / Mackinaw: with Terry Geneser (765 Barber Place)

Let's show our teachers how much they mean to us and put a smile on their faces!

Winter Apparel Drive

This week we will be running a Winter apparel drive. Our Lincoln FSA told us last PTO meeting that families are in need of snow pants and snow boots in particular, but any gently used gear is appreciated.

If you have any winter gear that your children have outgrown, please consider bringing them to the Lincoln entrance at Teeters Ct. this week. There is a large box available for any donation. All sizes are appreciated, as many Lincoln families have younger children who also may need winter clothes.

Thank you in advance for helping to keep all of our Lincoln families warm this winter!

Our recent Zoom PTO meeting revealed that while Lincoln families have been enjoying and making use of the workbooks and chrome books provided by the district, some families are running low on games, art supplies and other enrichment activities. To help, the PTO will be holding a collection drive to source more materials and get them to Lincoln families needing them.

You can help by donating any books, games, puzzles or art supplies.

The items especially in need are:

Books (pre-K to 6th)
Colored Pencils
Small pencil sharpeners
Markers
Paper
Scissors
Tape
Board Games

We will hold two collection dropoffs in the lower Lincoln parking lot. A large bin will be available for dropping items and social distancing will be maintained.

Friday May 22 from 2-4
Sunday May 24 from 12-2

Additionally you can contact Cliff Haley at 919-259-5292to schedule a porch pick up from your home.

Once materials are collected we will sanitize everything and create and distribute enrichment care packages in coordination with our Student and Family Advocate, Ladiester Janania.

Monetary donations can be made in lieu of donation and we will purchase materials to round out the care packages. Please visit the Lincoln PTO website and donate via PayPal with a note "support Lincoln families" to contribute to the fund.

Volunteers for collection and distribution are welcome!
