One of the most powerful lines I've read is by Rumi who wrote:

"The hardest sight to see is a man in prison with the key in his hand."

Do you recognize your prison? The truths that you hold yourself there with, all the while holding the key to your own freedom? Will you be courageous enough to challenge those truths?

Everyone has these. No one is exempt. We all have truths that we hold extremely tight, and all are scared to acknowledge them. Some you'll drop, some you'll keep. But will you acknowledge them?

Will you see that you are your own prisoner? UNTIL you do something about it.

To be honest, one of the hardest things in the world for me to do is to ask for "help". I'll do just about anything to avoid asking for and/or accepting anyone's help. To be in debt sounds about like the worst torture I can imagine. "To owe" anyone anything.......to be the looter....AWFUL. I suppose this has it's pros and cons.

However, this is a request. Please add your response to the following questions to help with an upcoming text and video series.

What is your biggest challenge in the area of fitness and/or performance?

And what is it holding you back from?

THE EVOLVED SELF-MANAGEMENT SYSTEM | Edge.org

Wordy professor taking the long route to something very simple....but regardless, good stuff.

Even as a kid, when sick, I'd basically go hide in a corner somewhere and not come out till I was better.

Regularly, I see people w/ the same ailments. One person will improve, one will stay the same, and one will get worse.

The person that improves, always has a resilient spirit and focus to get better. They know deep down that they must heal their self.

The person that stays the same..... s/he knows they need to focus and be resilient but will find any reason to avoid doing what will help him/her. They will avoid their therapies, will not challenge what they're scared of, and basically will come up with BS to justify a reason to distract themselves from healing. This is the case for most people.

And the person that gets worse constantly thinks and asks about meds/surgeries/procedures/therapies. Even if they do get better, they find something else that becomes an issue.

"I'm a neuroscience researcher."
"If you could give one piece of advice to a large group of people, what would it be?"
"Listen to your inner voice."
"You're a scientist. Isn't 'inner voice' a spiritual term?"
"Bu****it! You'll hear scientists talking about following their inner voice as much as you'd hear a musician or a priest."
"So how do you know which of your thoughts are your true inner voice?"
"All of them are! The question is-- how much weight do you give them? How much authority do you give your own thoughts? Are you taking them seriously? Or are you sitting in front of the damn tube letting other people tell you what to think?"

General information

These are our unique, multicomponent workouts which blend strength training and corrective exercise with cardiovascular conditioning at for persons that lead busy lives. Our team of professional strength coaches are here to help you reach your fitness goals, and learn movement skills to advance you to higher levels. This is not a traditional boot camp in any way aside from the heart throbbing, heavy breathing, and beads of sweat. 1) Resistance training done in a manner that drives the cardiac component This is superior to slow steady state cardio and increases our caloric burn after exercise for up to 36hours, where long slow cardio will only increase caloric burn for approximately 2 hours after exercise. It will also improve hormone regulation conducive to fat loss. Glucagon and HGH are both huge for fat burning, both increase while training this way. Insulin, cortisol, and leptin all help gain fat, and they decrease with this type of training. 2) Education. How could you succeed if you don't know what to do or why? You'll fail. Learning leads to change and both play into Character Growth. 3) Supportive and caring atmosphere No contests, competitions, glares, judgement, or funny looks. We understand that in order to change our bodies we have to change our nutrition, our mindset and our lifestyles.....this is absurd.....CHANGE IS HARD That's why we are here. To support you in and through that change.
