[10/14/19] Congratulations to Thomas Williams for successfully appealing a denial of unemployment benefits. On Friday, a District Court judge from Polk County found that the Employment Appeal Board wrongfully refused to award a Phelan Tucker client benefits when she was terminated after returning to work to care full-time for a convalescing parent.

[05/24/19] Craig Nierman just returned from San Francisco, where he testified as an expert witness in an insurance arbitration proceeding. Previous arbitrators ruled that a stockbroker sold his clients unreasonably risky securities. The recent proceeding was necessary to determine whether the stockbroker’s insurance company must pay for millions of dollars in damages.

He detailed the astonishing numbers (up to 40 million victims worldwide with two-thirds of them being women and almost a third being children) and then analyzed relevant federal and Iowa law.
