In a recent simulation, University of Iowa AirCare Iowa City crews were dispatched for an adult male with burns. Ground EMS was already on scene and requested air medical support due to concerns about airway involvement. With burns to the face and upper body and the patient in respiratory distress, teams had to move quickly through assessment, anticipate the potential need for advanced airway management, and make decisions under pressure.

Always proud to support the incredible work our partners at AirCare do every day! πŸšπŸ’›πŸ–€

Air Med 🚁 + Ground Crews πŸš‘ + SIM-IA 🧠 = One incredible day of hands-on training!

On Wednesday, we teamed up with MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center to run through several high-fidelity simulation scenarios including facial trauma, liver failure, obstetric hemorrhage, and others requiring critical care intervention.

A few flicks from last month’s training with Des Moines Fire Department πŸ”₯

DMFD invited their fire division out, and to add realism, we set up shop inside one of their reserve squads, allowing crews to simulate treating a thermal burn victim in a setting similar to what they encounter in the field.

Low call volume is never an excuse to let skills fade. πŸ‘Ά

We ran an infant tricyclic ingestion scenario with Marion Fire Department last week β€” because when peds calls don't come in often, simulation keeps crews sharp, no matter how rare the case!

Shoutout to Shenandoah Medical Center for welcoming us into their operating room! Our educators gowned up alongside their staff to run hands-on scenarios using our portable, high-fidelity patient simulators β€” right there on the OR table. This is what we're all about: bringing world-class simulation training to the spaces where healthcare happens. ❀️

Honored to participate in UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown’s emergency preparedness training day!

Our team ran four trauma simulation scenarios β€” two aboard our mobile unit and two inside the hospital β€” alongside student nurses from Marshalltown Community College, medics from the Iowa Army National Guard, and local EMS teams.

Multi-disciplinary training like this is invaluable. When it matters most, a well-rehearsed team saves lives.

Thank you for coordinating and inviting us to be part of it! πŸ₯πŸš‘
