Established in the summer of 2020, Ulysses Modern offers a selection of handpicked mid-century modern, Danish, and Scandinavian furniture and housewares, along with vintage clothing and local studio art. Dedicated to helping things find their home, the couple is passionate about curating the best selection of goods for their customers.
Ulysses Modern offered Ryan and Clara the opportunity to pour themselves into their passion. Named after their late son, Ulysses Theodore Quinn, the store serves as a way to celebrate the life of their lost infant.
Ryan has been in love with mid-century design for as long as he can remember. Searching for mid-century modern gems is a treasure hunt for him. “If you love what you do, you are never really working. Seeing the enjoyment our customers get from discovering that perfect treasure for their home or wardrobe is priceless!”
Ryan and Clara hope to establish a thriving mid-century-modern community in Iowa City to encompass Ulysses Modern. “We think it’s an ideal spot to develop an entire vintage and antique shopping district that could attract customers from across the Midwest. While we continue to establish our own business, we are constantly encouraging, promoting, and networking with others who have a passion for the business.”

Perfect an office, great room or bedroom! This modular piece has endless choices for configuration, or separate it into two single shelving units for either sides of a window or a bed. Walnut construction and white laminate cabinet tops mean it should last another 50 years! Plus a custom glass writing surface for the desk.
Each set of rails MUST be set 32” apart from center to hold shelves and cabinetry. Thankfully that’s the stand distance between studs, BUT SMALLER THAN MOST WINDOWS. It will work best on a long empty wall. 1375.00
