I know this isn't fiber arts related but I want to pivot to sharing more art than just crochet on this page. No plans to change the name but don't be surprised by more variety in the art shared here ๐
โ๏ธ I just finished this pair of cloud overalls for my toddler ๐
This is one of those special projects that almost is abandoned but still get finished in the end. ๐งถ
It all starts with the yarn. While pregnant with this little guy, I found the yarn at my favorite local thrift store. They have their specialty yarn separate from the typical acrylics and synthetic yarns. I had never bought luxury yarn before that day but buying secondhand let me give myself permission to splurge a little- after all, it was much cheaper than it would have been retail. So I bought this "all season" cotton and merino blend in Malibu blue.
I had the vision for this outfit right away it seemed like. I ended up finding the adorable cloud and moon buttons at Joann's. A year ago, I set to work. Very, very slowly... and by the time I had them about half completed, I realized they weren't going to fit my *then* baby by the time I was done.
So I unraveled the work I had done and carefully wound up the yarn and put it up with the thought that *maybe* I come back. However, I did not treat the buttons as thoughtfully and proceeded to lose them for about 10 months... When I found them though, I knew it was perfect because it was almost summertime. I'm very happy with how they turned out.
No pattern, freehanded. Cotton white yarn used for the trim, elastic sewn into the back waistband, felt cloud machine sewn on.
I made "my friend Wilby" from Starfield as a gift for my brother. ๐งถ
I used the official Bethesda pattern

I'm currently in the middle of 2 crochet projects, 3 painting projects, some random miscellaneous projects and more sewing projects than I care to put a number on. How do I choose to spend my time though? Making yarn skein earrings ๐ฌ
๐๐๐ค๐คSandworm for my niece's birthday๐๐๐ค๐ค
This is the 2nd freehanded sandworm I have made. The first, I made in 2019 for a vendor booth at Halloweenapalooza. It isn't often I revisit old projects, but it is nice to see the improvement in skill and know-how. No puff paint used in the new version. Just yarn, felt, embroidery thread and stuffing. Also using proper stitches for amigurumi so there's not huge gaps.
I'm pretty sure this is implying I should pick up a new craft...
Throwback Thursday!
I made this Easter Basket 4 years ago for the silent auction at the daycare I worked at. I can't remember what it sold for but I was so happy with how it turned out! Baby themed basket because I worked in the baby room

So exciting! I may not be the artist, but I am the canvas and that is definitely an honor ๐
I finished my first doily just in time to put it on the kitchen table for Valentine's Day ๐
I want to make one for every holiday we decorate for ๐งถ
Panda backpack for my toddler ๐ ๐ผ
The mandala I finished tonight ๐งถ I love how when making a mandala, you could stop at pretty much any point and it will look beautiful and unique. This piece is 14 inches in diameter on a 16 inch hoop.
"A mandala is a symbol of the universe in its ideal form, and its creation signifies the transformation of a universe of suffering into one of joy"
Been making some friends for my kiddos ๐งถ
Excited to share all of the items I've made after they've been gifted ๐
I've been posting less recently as I've been sick and making items I can't share yet because they are gifts for some of the little loved ones in my life.
๐Here is the holiday lights sweater I made for my baby!! It is inspired by a free Hobbii pattern. I freehanded this though instead of following the pattern because I prefer to make sweaters in the round instead of in panels ๐งถ
To be fair, it IS pretty hard to crochet with a baby around
๐ถโคต๏ธ๐๐งถ
Tunisian Crochet creates stitches that look very similar to knit. Today I finally sat down to start to learn. I'm not fast yet and it seems to work up much slower than regular crochet, which makes sense since the effect is so close to knit. I love how it looks though and how easy of a transition it was. I think if I picked up knitting needles, it wouldn't come as quickly as this has.

Gives less granny vibes than "crocheter" ๐

Do you have an artist friend who has a page for their art? I want to follow more art pages from my page! Please tag below! Doesn't have to be a fiber artist, I enjoy all types of art!
When you find that you made a mistake in a previous row, what do you do? Do you unravel and fix the mistake or keep going? It depends on the project but most of the time I'm a "keep going" type. I think this mistake won't be incredibly noticeable in the end so I will continue forward but I'm not happy about it lol
๐Over the Garden Wall group costume with my boys ๐
Everything that I didn't make, we already had or I thrifted
๐งถCrochet:
frog costume (ThatGirlsPatterns), red pixie hat(wild & wanderful), brown crossbody bag (freehanded)
๐งตSewing: cloak, suspenders, lining of brown bag
๐จGeneral crafting: frog buttons (polymer clay) & teapot hat
I love making my kids Halloween costumes each year but this is one of my favorites
I don't often crochet items for myself but I needed a celestial rainbow beanie to go into autumn with ๐ ๐ ๐
My goal for nicu Halloween hats was 10. However between other projects and unexpected life events, I just have the 7 to offer. That's okay though because I have more plans for projects for the babies. I want to make some Christmas hats but I also want to just make non holiday items for donation. I have something really special and close to my heart planned. ๐งถ
If you want to help support the cause, feel free to donate via Venmo: Kaitlyn-Renee-92
It is preferred to use a lighter weight yarn than what I have an abundance of so I will have to be buying some yarn soon if I want to continue making. I especially need to get Christmas colors in the 3 weight. If you can't donate, sharing helps! ๐ thanks for all the support
Did you know that if you have a public library card that you can access thousands of ebooks, magazines, audio books and videos on the app Libby? You just need to sign in to your library with your card. "Fantastic, but what does that have to do with crochet?" You ask. Well, you can access many books and magazines with patterns, articles, techniques and info about the fiber art world all for FREE! I just wanted to spread the word of this fantastic resource! ๐งถ๐
*is your hobby not crochet or fiber arts? There still may be plenty of resources for your hobby through the library!
to this NES controller blanket I made as a gift for my brother (2018) I absolutely loved how it turned out but Hated making it more than I can explain. I honestly don't think I've done a single granny square project since this ๐ฌ I have, however, learned about better methods to join instead of hand sewing all the pieces together which I did on this blanket and it was terrible.
Fun fact! To wrap this for Christmas, I put it in a cardboard box and instead of wrapping it with paper to look pretty, I covered it in all the thoughts and emotions I felt while making it โ
I made my boyfriend a sweater for his birthday! It is my first adult sized wearable ๐งถ took 6 skeins of yarn and soooo long since I could only work on it while he was at work or I was hidden away in my dungeon(craft room)
Freehanded, no pattern and used Yarn Bee Soft Secret. Of course if I went back in time I may have made different design choices than what had to be made during construction. But he seems to like it despite the things I would change and I love the feel of this yarn so I will move on with only mild regrets
And No I don't believe in curses ๐
๐ซThe Boyfriend Curse:In the fiber arts world there is a belief making a boyfriend a sweater or blanket (I've heard both since they are long projects) will doom your relationship and you will break up either before you've finished or shortly after. Well I made him a blanket before I had gotten more into the online community and even heard of The Curse and that was 3 years ago and our relationship has only progressed since that, so I'm not too worried ๐
I don't believe in curses, only in bad boyfriends who aren't worthy and I'm pretty blessed with my significant other ๐
