Sheila & Charlie - Females - Pyr Anatolians - New to Rescue- Foster Needed's Story

Sheila and Charlie are 3 year old female littermates who are truly a bonded pair. They were surrendered to a shelter when their owner received sad news that they were diagnosed with a terminal illness. The girls were separated at the shelter due to space issues, and transported to us on different days. They had not seen each other for almost a week. Both were very sad and shut down without the other. When they were reunited, it was so heartwarming. Sheila, the larger tan girl was crying when she saw her sister again. Charlie went from being scared and sad, to wagging her tail, and they had a wonderful reunion running the yard together. We don't know if the girls were inside or outside dogs, but they keep a very clean kennel. They will only be rehomed together. They are fine with other dogs, and good with kids. Unproven with cats.

We recommend obedience training for all newly adopted pyrs, to help you create a special bond with you and your new friend, and so you have a well behaved canine.

Lucas - Nice Boy - Foster Needed's Story

Lucas got his name from where he was dumped. Someone pulled into an undeveloped lot on the south side of Indianapolis, in the shadow of Lucas Oil Stadium and left him next to a homeless camp beside the White river. The people there were very helpful and reached out to find someone to help him and in the mean time shared their food and water with him and gave him blankets and cushions to rest on. He was very skittish and was finally able to be leashed after numerous hot dogs and roasted chicken were offered to him, but he was most interested in the female Great Pyrenees we brought along to help catch him. His owner never came forward to claim him. We estimate he is 5- 6 years old. He will need an adopter who will be patient with him, as he does not seem to have been well socialized. Once he trusts you, he seeks you out for attention. He is fine with other dogs, and would do best with a canine companion. He has not been cat tested. A calm, adult only home would be best for him to learn the benefits of being a house.

Harvey - 8 months old - New to Rescue - Fostered Needed's Story

Harvey was found as a stray and not reclaimed from the shelter. We estimate he was born in January 2026. He is a beautiful boy who is very gentle and eager to please. He gets along well with other dogs, and is friendly with all people. He most likely was a farm dog who was not contained, because when he came into rescue he smelled like a barn. We recquire obedience training for all newly adopted pyrs, to help you create a special bond with you and your new friend, and so you have a well behaved canine. Great Pyrenees are willing to learn, but are not as eager to comply with commands as much as other breeds. They are bred to be independent thinkers. Applicants must be over 25, own their own home and all children in household must be over 6 years old. Your resident pets must be up to date on vaccines, sterilized, you must have a good history of vet care for them for the past two years, and you must have used heartworm preventative year round for your dogs and be able to provide proof of purchase. Thank you to everyone who kept Ellie in their thoughts and prayers! ❤️❤️❤️She was released from the hospital yesterday after a week's stay and is doing much better and went to her new home. This little bear is on the mend. Here she is on the deck this morning at her adopter's home. Thank you Karin and Trevor for taking such good care of this sweet girl and paying for her medical care!

🆘🆘🆘🆘Medical foster needed!

Chartreuse was found as a stray with injuries to her neck and head, most likely from a fight with a coyote pack. Her wounds have been treated and she is on antibiotics. She needs a foster home to recover. Everyone who meets her talks about how sweet she is. Good with other dogs- unproven with cats. Ari - New to Rescue - Need Foster's Story

Ari was found neglected in a small pen when a fire crew responded to a call. at the property. One of the fire workers, recognized him as a Great Pyrenees and reached out to us to see if we could take him, as his current owners did not want him. Someone who previously lived with them moved away and left him. He had moldy water, no food, and they had no money to care for him. It was 100 degrees outside, July 3rd, fireworks were imminent. and he had no where to go to get away from the heat or the fireworks. We estimate he is 3-4 years old. Ari is the sweetest boy. He loves human interaction and has done well with walking. He is an opportunist, so secure fencing is a must, and 6' is recommended or he could be placed in a walk only home.. We recommend obedience training for all newly adopted pyrs, to help you create a special bond with you and your new friend, and so you have a well behaved canine. Great Pyrenees are willing to learn, but are not as eager to comply with commands as much as other breeds.

Another update! Ellie was released from the hospital and is doing so much better! All the jaundice has subsided and she is eating and drinking and taking her meds, and waking up her pet parents at 3 am for attention and pets. Thank you to everyone who helped this sweet girl and kept her in your thoughts and prayers!! ❤️❤️Update: Ellie is doing a little better! Keep your healing thought and prayers for her going! Ellie’s bilirubin numbers have continued to drop slightly, and she is eating enthusiastically. Her adopters and the doctors, are cautiously optimistic! She hads to wear a cone because she is trying to take her IV out. I think she trying to tell us she's ready to get out of there!

Please send healing energy and prayers to sweet Ellie! She got treated for heartworm two weeks ago and her liver is not doing well currently. She seems to be having a reaction to the pain medication administered during the treatment. She has a foster family rooting for her and two loving adoptive parents looking after her. She has been in the emergency hospital since Monday.
