Happy Independent Bookstore Day to all who celebrate! I dropped by Slant of Light Books to buy a couple of cuties - Lucky Red by Claudia Cravens and Harlem Rhapsody by Victoria Christopher Murray. And hopefully I’ll soon share details about how you can order signed copies of The Windsor Affair from the store. Hooray for our brave booksellers, I hope they all have a wonderful day!

So today…. I had a long gabby breakfast with Elizabeth Letts #1 New York Times Bestselling Author (again, forgot to take a pic) at a very LOUD restaurant (although the food was good) that left me with sensory overload. So instead of going to the Met I went to the smaller & quieter museum. I strolled a little through Central Park, had a cupcake on the Upper West Side, then dinner across the street from my hotel. I’m about to have boozy ice cream for dessert. Tomorrow, coffee with my fabulous editor then home!

NYC day 2: Had brunch with Susan Elia MacNeal (so much fun we forgot to take a pic), then walked through Chinatown down to the Battery, had a drink at the oldest bar in Manhattan, came back to the hotel, then walked up to the theater district where I saw Operation Mincemeat (a ridiculously charming musical that was exactly what I needed), walked back and treated myself to a late night slice because I keep forgetting to have actual meals and I walked over 15,000 steps. It was chilly but such a beautiful day!

Last night I had the privilege of attending the annual Authors Guild Gala in NYC, honoring Dr. Carla Hayden (the first woman of color to be named Librarian of Congress, and fired by the current despot in office because she is a woman of color), Percival Everett and Amy Tan. It was an inspiring evening of resistance, empathy, creativity and authenticity. Plus I got to hang with lots of author friends, my editor and my agent!

Free Substack up, an early celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's centenary! Plus I made a video (and had to put on makeup & comb my hair. Being an author is hard!) and a digital gift for preordering The Windsor Affair!

Happy birthday, Lilibet! The 100th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's birth, plus a video!

My buddy Edward Kelsey Moore and I played tourist in our hometown today! First off we saw the amazing Paul Tazewell costume exhibit at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry and it was perhaps the most exquisite museum exhibit I’ve ever seen. Visually dynamic and not just the costumes from Wicked, West Side Story and Hamilton but in the video displays and audio narration. Stunning. And free with General Admission so go see it before it ends! The we wanted to see the cherry blossoms in Jackson Park, a first for us both. They don’t bloom like this every year. And we could see the new Obama Presidential Library which will open soon. It’s stunning as well. I love !
