Today marks the first day of my dissertation work for my doctoral degree. By God’s grace, I will explore the depths of His Word and take a critical look into the problems that many pastors and ministry leaders face.

Here is my presented problem for the dissertation:

Ministry leaders are increasingly expected to lead strategic change in ministry contexts shaped by pragmatic success metrics, often without sufficient attention to personal spiritual formation. This pressure can lead to leadership fatigue, theological and relational compromise, erosion of pastoral integrity, and an inability to sustain faithful leadership over time.

I would appreciate prayer as I dive into this next season. Please pray that the Lord would guide me in my research as I seek biblically healthy solutions to these problems so many have faced in the local church.

At Christmas, we remember that the light of Christ did not enter a spotless world, but a broken one. He came into the places marked by sorrow, fear, shame, and long-standing wounds, and He did not turn away. The miracle of the incarnation is not only that God came near, but that He came to heal.

Scripture tells us that Jesus came to bear our griefs and carry our sorrows. This means there is no corner of your story untouched by His redeeming work. As the old hymn reminds us, He comes to make His blessings flow far as the curse is found; into strained relationships, weary minds, anxious hearts, generational pain, and hidden struggles no one else sees. Christmas declares that restoration has begun, even where brokenness feels deepest.

The manger points us to a Savior who enters our weakness with gentleness and authority. He brings forgiveness where guilt has lingered, peace where chaos has ruled, and hope where despair has settled in. Healing is not always instant, but it is promised, because Christ Himself is present and at work.

This Christmas, may you rest in the beauty of a Savior who does not merely sympathize with our pain, but redeems it. The curse does not get the final word. Jesus does. And wherever His light shines, healing follows.

A Thanksgiving Reflection: Gratitude That Grounds Us

I can admit that gratitude has been a struggle for me. I am easily tempted to mistakenly put my worth in my work.

As we step into this holiday of Thanksgiving, my heart is drawn again to the gentle, steady invitations of Scripture, those reminders that gratitude is not simply a holiday posture but a way of life shaped by the goodness of God. Paul writes, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thess. 5:18). Not for all circumstances, but in them.

Gratitude grows best not in perfect soil, but in the real soil of our lives, the soil that’s been tilled by joys, sorrows, losses, and unexpected mercies.

Today, many of us will gather around tables, pass dishes, share stories, and carve out moments of delight. But beneath every meal and every smile is a deeper reality: every good gift is from our Father’s hand, and He has been faithful from the first day until now. Even in a year that may have carried more burdens than we expected, we can trace His quiet provision, answered prayers, new mercies, and the grace to keep going.

Thanksgiving is not ultimately about a day on the calendar; it’s a rhythm of remembrance. It’s pausing long enough to say, “Lord, You have been kind to me. You have carried me. You have not forgotten.” It’s choosing to notice the small wonders as much as the large ones; sunlight on cold mornings, the laughter of a child, the comfort of shared meals, the strength to face tomorrow, and the astonishing truth that God Himself walks with us.

My prayer for you todayis simple:
May gratitude steady your heart.
May God’s presence warm your home.
And may His goodness lead you into joyful worship.
