Heavy, Wet Accumulating Snow Thursday Afternoon Through Early Friday Morning...
- A round of snow is expected to impact the area starting tomorrow afternoon and it will come to an end early Friday morning. Precip will move east into Illinois late morning/early afternoon tomorrow and it may even start out as rain or a rain/snow mix as temperatures will be in the mid to upper 30s. It should change over to snow by mid-afternoon and steady snow is expected to fall tomorrow evening and into the overnight hours. Given the time of day and the snowfall rates, some slushy amounts are likely on area roads especially after the sun sets but the majority of these totals will be measured on grassy and elevated surfaces. Bridges and overpasses may be very slick tomorrow evening so use caution. Snow is expected to wrap up by sunrise on Friday but slick roads could still impact your morning commute. The highest amounts will be found across far northern Illinois which could total up to 6 inches in spots with snow totals falling off especially when you go towards I-80.
