— Before Dinner —
🥑 A HIGH PROTEIN BREAKFAST will keep your blood sugar stable throughout the entire day. (Try: a green smoothie with avocado, nut butter, ginger + water)
🥜 A PRE-DINNER SNACK will ensure you can better control your portions at the table. (Try: a large handful of nuts + 8oz lemon water)
— During Dinner —
🍽️ Speaking of PORTION CONTROL —
(Try: 1/2 plate of veggies, 1/4 protein, 1/4 carbs)
🥘 MEAL SEQUENCING the Thanksgiving dinner will boost digestion. (Try: first salad, meat + cooked veggies, carbs then dessert — that means eat alllll your raw veggies + fiber first before continuing on meat + cooked veggies, etc…)
— After Dinner —
🏈 GET MOVING‼️ The sugar WILL set in and if you don’t start moving your body you know it’s gonna go where you don’t want it! 🤣 (Try: going for a walk or playing a game of flag football)
🛌 Finally, get a decent night’s SLEEP! There’s nothing better for the body, or the mind, than some rest 😁

My absolute favorite mat ever, made by VAYUMUDRA (now Zencore Yoga) is no longer being made 😓
I hate when that happens!
So now I’m on the search for my ideal Yoga mat in 2023…

Disclaimer: if you are just starting Yoga; not even sure if you’re going to like it - just go to FiveBelow etc. and get a cheap mat to try. After, say 10 classes, if you think you want to continue Yoga, THEN AND ONLY THEN do I suggest investing in the mat discussed below.

My Guidelines for Choosing the Ideal Yoga Mat in 2023
- No smell - whatsoever!
- Stays rolled
- Unrolls flat
- Grippy but not textured
- Dark color
- Made primarily of rubber
- Over 70 inches long
- 5 mm thick (6 if you’re 50+ or have injuries but no more than 6)
- Easy to clean
*Included with a strap or bag is very nice but, in my opinion, not a deciding factor
Because after hundreds of classes, trying allll the mats, here’s what I know…
Trial + Error Conclusions:
- Too thick and it’s difficult to balance bc it’s just too squishy
- Too thin and it’s not squishy enough to properly cushion your knees, wrists, ankles
- Light colored rubber leaves stains
- Many Synthetic materials have an odor
- Those HIIT mats are just too short for anyone
- It’s actually dangerous if your mat’s edges curl up (eventually you WILL trip)
— I also have some opinions —
Personal Preference:
- Designs, grids, and lines are distracting from your body’s natural alignment
- Texture doesn’t feel nice when applying heavy pressure - like on the heel of your hand in side plank 😩
- Bright colored mats seem nice in the store but actually in practice can be overstimulating
