Clinton's Soda Fountain

We saw that Clinton's Soda Fountain did a throwback picture for today and decided - why not? Besides, who doesn't love to reminisce about good food and warm, sunny days? (Hey, we made it through December okay, now we just have January and February left and we're back to spring!)
Sales? Sure, we've got 'em! Save on our globes, ships, and more when you stop in! Grab some food over at Up Dog or Clinton's Soda Fountain first and then kick it on the Square to see all the fun places and snag up all the best goods on sale!

The ice cream eating and root beer chugging competitions is always a popular event the competition was fierce. Check out this year's winners. Special thanks for Clinton's Soda Fountain and Polly's Pop for their sponsorship of these events.
We all scream for ice cream! If you think you've got what it takes to devour some delicious ice cream from Clinton's Soda Fountain, be sure to join us on Sunday, Sept. 5th for the Ice Cream Eating Contest, beginning at 12:00 PM at the Community Stage (Maple & Liberty Streets) Ages 8 and up welcome! Sign ups will begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday.
Got some lunch specials ready for you, so get them while you can! We will be closing at 2pm today and will not be open for dinner. Sorry for any inconvenience!

And don't forget to stop by Clinton's Soda Fountain for $2.00 single scoop cake cones to celebrate Missouri's bicentennial! Today is statehood day! ๐Ÿฅณ
Missouri's bi-centennial is this year! August 10th, in fact! (Why the 10th? That's our statehood day!) The state is celebrating by encouraging places to hold ice cream socials all over, among other events - and of course Independence is going to participate!

Now, we may not have ice cream on hand (check out Clinton's Soda Fountain for that!), but we do have plenty of ways for the adults to enjoy themselves if you catch our drift ๐Ÿ˜‰ Pretty sure after a long day of chasing after the kiddos and cleaning up sticky ice cream faces, you're going to want a way to unwind. We've got the goods to help out with that!
Happy National Ice Cream Day! Where is your favorite place to get ice cream in your local Main Street district? Give them a shout-out in the comments below!

Ice Cream, Shakes, & Phosphates. OH MY! Clinton's Soda Fountain on the Independence Square is a real historic gem!

Harry Truman worked his first job at Crown Drug Store in this very building. Stop by and see what an authentic Soda Fountain can be and don't forget to try our phosphates, ice cream, candy, sandwiches, coffee and so much more!!

We're trying out Wonkavision. You know - where you can get stuff through the screen? If we tilt the counter enough, maybe this sundae will slide off and straight to you.

It didn't work? Hmm. Well, Wonkavision technically was for TV and we're all on computers these days. Maybe that's why. Guess you'll have to come in and get it yourself! ๐Ÿ˜

You know you've been thinking about getting a scoop. Who says it has to be summer to enjoy a bit of ice cream now and then? ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿฆ

Keep believing because dreams CAN become reality!

Another chilly day - although the snow didn't last very long, did it? What an odd winter we're having. No matter - we're able to keep you nice and toasty both inside our place and with a nice hot cup of hot chocolate!

By the way, if you participated in our little experiment - thanks! It was interesting to see what the results were. In short, we asked folks to like the post because we were curious as to just how many people were actually seeing them considering each posts only gets a few likes every time. This post got 106 likes!

That means many of you *are* seeing the posts - but definitely not nearly as many as the number of people who follow our page. Though that doesn't really take into account the number of people who may have seen the post and thought we were just gunning for likes and scroll on by. ๐Ÿ˜…

In the end, Facebook may keep us down for whatever reason (maybe because we're not throwing money at them for ads? Who knows.), but as long as you guys support us by coming over for drinks, grilled cheese sandwiches, sundaes, shakes, candy, taffy, chips, and classic phosphates, then that's what truly matters. So we thank you for your continued business (especially during the winter!!) and here's to a bright and shiny summer!

Random request for y'all out there - if you see this post, could you like it? We're not sure how many people Facebook is actually showing our posts to. We have 5K followers, yet we're only getting 4 or 5 likes on each post. So we're genuinely wondering if Facebook is distributing our posts or just selecting a handful of people to show them to. ๐Ÿค”

In the meantime, here's a nice sundae for you to ogle. ๐Ÿ˜†

Just in case you haven't noticed - our hours are now Tuesday through Saturday, 12pm - 5pm!

Are you ready for the next Chief's game? Why not stop in here and celebrate their upcoming victory with a few specific flavors of phosphate today. Grab a friend, yell cheers, and drink up to their success!

Things to do today:

1.) Go shopping at one of the many cute stores out here on the Square.
2.) Stop here and get yourself some ice cream, a shake, or some hot cocoa.
3.) Go bowling at Diamond Bowl for some extra fun.
4.) Have dinner at one of the great restaurants here.

That always makes for a great day! Can't do it today? Well then that's what the weekend is for, isn't it? ๐Ÿ˜

Grab your favorite flavor before you head home for the day so you can enjoy it at dinner!

Got a craving for ice cream? Polly's Pop? Grilled cheese? Chocolate shake? Last minute hot chocolate? We can do all those things and more! But just keep in mind that tomorrow we'll be closing an hour earlier at 5pm, so if you need those cravings taken care of, come in before then!

After so many days of bone chilling cold, come out and get some afternoon ice cream! Still not feeling ice cream vibes? We know you love a good Polly's Pop! And we've got all the flavors you could ask for!

Stay in and have some cocoa! We're closed today!

Peppermint mochas, peppermint sticks, peppermint hot chocolate - tis the season for minty things! Get in one last minty grasshopper sundae before the storm hits tomorrow! We'll be closed for the weather, so let's be minty together today!

Nothing wrong with having options at your fingertips. Cold? Get yourself a nice hot grilled cheese sandwich and a hot chocolate. Don't mind the winter weather? Sundaes and shakes it is! Never let anyone tell you what you should and shouldn't enjoy when it's hot, cold, or otherwise outside!

Only two days left to hang a fun animal cookie styled ornament on your tree! When you spend a total of $20 (more than one visit is okay! Just keep your receipts!) at our place, you can take one home with you! December 14th is the final day to get one, so get in here and order up some deliciousness. Then it can join the cute El Pico taco, Ophelia's martini glass, Gilbert Whitney Christmas truck, and all the other fun Square ornaments shining on your tree!

Ok. Here's the starting point. Now what do you want to add on top?

It's cold out, so if you find yourself out and about and want a way to warm up - stop in and cozy up with a cup of cocoa!

Shiny Twinkling Sparkling!

We just love how everything looks when the sun goes down. The twinkling lights, the shiny baubles, the people filling the store for cocoa and ice cream and candy. So much fun! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Does this pretty pony put you in mind of tasty frosted animal cookies? Don't eat this one, though! This one gets to go on your tree! When you spend $20 here at Clinton's you'll get a free glass Cody Foster ornament. Each one is different - just like in a real bag of frosted animal cookies! Maybe you'll get one just like this, or perhaps an elephant or a camel! It will be a fun surprise no matter what!

Don't worry if you find yourself not able to spend $20 all at once - hang onto your receipts! You have until December 14th to hit $20 total, then you can get your very own ornament!

Are you out and about? Get something sweet from our place! The lights are twinkling, there are carolers on the Square, jingling bells, and of course - SANTA! Get yourself some cocoa or a sundae (thanks to the weather!) and have a grand Living Windows time!

We're joining the ornament fun here on the Square! But since we're fashionably late, we realize it might be a bit hard for folks to hit that $50 mark by the 14th like all the other stores. So we're making it much easier for you to get your hands on one of these little guys - when you spend $20 you'll get one of these for free! There are six different "frosted" animal cookie glass ornaments, which only adds to the fun! Which one will you get? Only one way to find out!

Don't see yourself spending $20 in one go? That's okay! Hang onto your receipt and once they total up to $20, you can get your hands on one of these cuties! But you only have until the 14th, so start saving!

We're excited about tomorrow! Living Windows is always such a treat! Will you see all the magic here on the Square? If you start to get chilly, just pop in and order yourself some nice hot chocolate! You can do that today, too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ice cream is great, shakes are fantastic, phosphates are fabulous, candy is awesome, and sundaes are sweet - but tomorrow it's all about the bird and all the fixin's! Stop by on Friday to take a break from all your big box shopping, or on Saturday for a sweet treat admist your Small Business Saturday gift buying!

Ok, so maybe we've talked a lot about hot chocolate recently - but hey, it's hot chocolate weather! And there are only a few places around the Square where you can get your mittens on a cup. We happen to be one of them! So if you're out shopping and need a break with a warm cocoa, why not stop in and get one? Plus you can grab a few snacks while you're here - and enjoy our pretty Christmas window!

Are you excited for the Square Lighting? These lovely ladies will be out decked in their holiday finest (including sleigh bells!) for jaunts around the Square on Friday! They're always so cute to see jingle their way past our window. We hope to see plenty of people there!

Have you been in to get yourself some cocoa today? It's chilly out there. But hey, if you're not feeling the cocoa vibe, how about an iced hot cocoa (which, really, is just a chocolate shake, but if you want to be fancy and called it iced hot cocoa, go for it ๐Ÿ˜†)

Don't have time for a sundae or a grilled cheese sandwich today, but still have a thirst for something good? Why not grab a pack of Polly's Pop? Or if you're just on the go and want a single bottle, we have those, too! Nice and chilled in our fridge in the flavors you want.

When you're having a slow day, when you just don't feel like doing a whole lot, and when you don't need a big, fancy lunch - come out and see us. Hang out in a cute soda fountain with a classic checkered floor and fun snacks. Enjoy a nice, warm and freshly made grilled cheese sandwich just how you want it with the chips and drink of your choice.

You sure you don't want a little sweetness in your life today? It's cozy at our soda fountain, giving you the perfect atmosphere to kick back and enjoy a rich, yummy ice cream cone. Maybe after having a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch? Then stick around until the chill wears off before heading out again. Take Your Time Tuesday - how does that sound? ๐Ÿ˜

Today is prime hot cocoa day! Take five at our little soda fountain and watch the rain come down outside while a cup of cocoa keeps your hands and your tummy nice and warm.

Grasshoppers aren't just a summer thing - hop in to our place and get nice and minty with one today! How can you say no to delicious mint ice cream topped with fudge and Oreo bits? Whipped cream and a cherry to top everything off - so yummy!

Sorry all, but we will be closed today!

Can't wait until it's time to trick-or-treat for some candy? We have plenty. Whole bars, in fact. And salt water taffy, which doesn't seem to show up in Halloween buckets very often.

So if you're too old to officially trick-or-treat, stop in and load up on your favorites here instead.

Hope you're coming out for the parade this Saturday! It may be spooky - but it will also be a lot of fun! We'll be opening at 8:30am so you have plenty of time to get a nice hot cup of cocoa before the ghosts and skeletons emerge! And when the parade is over, stick around! We'll have lovely grilled cheese sandwiches and all the shops will be open (perhaps with some sales in tow!).

The afternoon is always peak ice cream time. You've got a craving for it - the perfect little delight to enjoy between lunch and dinner. Doesn't have to be a lot. Just a simple sundae to put a smile on your face. Mom always said eating dessert before dinner ruined dinner, but we don't think that's the case. Rather, we like to think of it as self-care. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not feelin' the ice cream? We get it. It's cold out. So why not warm up here with a nice cup of hot chocolate instead? Maybe sn**ch a few candy bars or a bag of chips while you're here for something to snack on later.

Thirsty? Understandable - it is pretty hot out (again. In October. ๐Ÿคท) We've got the cold drinks, the bubbly phosphates, and of course the ice cream waiting here for you! We're open 12pm to 6pm, so stop in and chill out!

It's a nice, sunny day and the perfect excuse for some last minute (last season?) ice cream! Stop in for a Grasshopper, Harry's Favorite, Nutty Turtle, or other classic sundae topped with all the sweet stuffs!

Don't forget - we're open on Mondays so if you don't know where to stop in for for lunch, why not our place for a grilled cheese sandwich? Pair it with a bag of chips of your choice and a nice warm hot cocoa. The perfect lunch for October fall weather!
