May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Unlike other organizations, Soldiers in the Army work and live together in an environment that encourages and thrives on teamwork to accomplish missions. This close-knit work environment provides an opportunity for Soldiers to get to know one another on more personal levels and knowing that support and communication is open at all times, is a key player in making a difference. Jeffrey Caldwell, acting executive director, and Col. Chris Thomas, acting deputy director, represented ACC-RSA during today’s Alabama Update at the Von Braun Center, where Gov. Kay Ivey highlighted economic growth, infrastructure investment and workforce development across the state.
During her remarks, Ivey pointed to continued expansion in North Alabama, including growth tied to aerospace, defense and technology industries in the Huntsville area. She also highlighted ongoing investments in education, broadband connectivity, transportation infrastructure and public safety.
The governor noted Alabama has generated billions in economic investment supporting approximately 100,000 jobs statewide, while also emphasizing projects connected to Rebuild Alabama, including continued improvements to I-565 and other transportation corridors.
Ivey also discussed Alabama’s record education budget and efforts to improve literacy and math performance statewide to strengthen the future workforce.
For ACC-RSA teammates who live and work throughout Huntsville, Madison and the Tennessee Valley, the discussion reinforced the connection between Alabama’s continued growth and the defense mission supported across Redstone Arsenal.
Special thanks to the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber for hosting today’s luncheon and bringing together leaders from across government, industry and the community.
