A lion at Guangzhou Zoo in China went viral after visitors noticed its mane looked like it had been styled into straight bangs. According to the Times of India, photos of the white lion quickly spread online, with many joking that it looked like the animal had just come from a salon. The unusual hairstyle sparked memes and playful captions across social media.

The zoo, however, denied giving the lion a haircut. According to My Modern Met, the zookeepers explained that the lion, nicknamed A Hang, had groomed itself naturally and that the fringe-like mane was simply the result of the way its hair grew and settled. Despite the denial, the lion’s unique look continued to attract attention, making it an internet sensation.

Muhammad Ali’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is the only one placed on a wall rather than embedded in the sidewalk, and it was done out of respect for his faith. According to Good Morning America, when Ali was honored in 2002, his star was placed on the wall of the Dolby Theatre instead of on the sidewalk. This made it the only star out of more than 2500 that people cannot step on.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce agreed to Ali’s request because of his faith. According to Snopes, Ali, a devout Muslim, did not want the name “Muhammad,” which is also the name of the Prophet in Islam, to be walked over. By placing the star on the wall, they respected his religious beliefs while still celebrating his legacy.

Some puppies that are trained to become K9 service dogs do not end up qualifying for the role, and one common reason is that they are simply too friendly. According to Animals Around the Globe, K9 dogs need to be highly disciplined and focused on tasks such as detection or patrol, but some puppies are more interested in playing or socializing, which makes them unsuitable for service work.

Birds Advice explains that these dogs are often called “career change dogs.” They are well bred and usually receive early training, but their personalities are better suited to being family pets rather than working dogs. Instead of being discarded, they are placed for adoption through official programs run by police departments or nonprofit organizations.

In 1959, a nine year old boy named Ronald Ervin McNair walked into the segregated public library in Lake City, South Carolina and tried to check out books. According to Wikipedia, the librarian refused to serve him because the library was for white people only and even called the police when he would not leave. The officers eventually told the librarian to let him borrow the books, a moment that showed McNair’s determination to pursue knowledge despite discrimination.

McNair went on to excel academically. According to History Hustle, he graduated as valedictorian from Carver High School in 1967 and later earned a PhD in Physics from MIT in 1976, specializing in laser physics. His achievements led him to NASA, where he was selected as an astronaut in 1978. He flew aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1984, becoming the second African American in space.

Tragically, McNair lost his life in the Challenger disaster in 1986, but his legacy continues to inspire. The library that once denied him books is now named the Ronald McNair Life History Center, honoring his journey from a boy who refused to accept injustice to a scientist and astronaut who reached the stars.
