🥪Cabell County Schools to Provide Summer Meals Throughout the Community🍎

Cabell County Schools announces its sponsorship of the federally-funded Summer Food Service Program. The Summer Lunch Program is open to all children, ages 18 years and under, who would like to participate.

Students may access the meals through three different methods:
🌟daily lunch at various community sites
🌟weekly meal boxes in more rural areas of the district, as determined by the USDA
🌟daily breakfast and lunch as part of any Cabell County Schools' summer learning programs

The meal box pick up is only available at sites that were approved by USDA. While Huntington sites did not qualify for multiple day meal boxes, we have many locations hosting daily summer feeding sites.

See the list and schedule of on-site daily meals by visiting: https://www.cabellschools.com/article/2963647

Non-Congregate Feeding (7-Day Meal Box Distribution) * Parents are required to sign up weekly if they intend to pick up a meal box at one of the following sites. The link to sign up for the first week (June 17) will be live starting at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10. Parents or guardians may sign up at https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/cZc4nMf0yz

Cabell County Prosecutor Warns That Student-Initiated Bomb Threats Will Be Prosecuted

Huntington, WV — Cabell County Prosecuting Attorney Jason M. Spears issued a warning today regarding the growing danger and criminal consequences associated with student-initiated bomb threats against schools.

“These threats are not pranks and they are not harmless jokes,” Prosecutor Spears said. “When someone makes a bomb threat against a school, law enforcement must treat that threat as real. Schools are evacuated, officers respond in force, and parents and students experience fear and disruption.”

Spears emphasized that such conduct places enormous strain on emergency resources and diverts law enforcement away from other critical public safety duties.

“Students who make bomb threats—whether online, through social media, or by any other means—should understand that these actions are criminal offenses,” Spears said. “Our office will work closely with school officials and law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”

Under West Virginia law, individuals responsible for bomb threats or false reports involving explosive devices may face serious criminal charges that can carry significant penalties, including incarceration.

Spears urged parents to speak with their children about the seriousness of these threats and the consequences associated with them.

“Our schools must remain safe environments for learning,” Spears said. “Anyone who threatens that safety will be held accountable.”
