Let's check in with a former HCF Youth Board President, Sadie!
Sadie Mrakuzic served as the HCF YAB President during the 2019-2020 school year before graduating in HHS's first virtual ceremony. Sadie attended Michigan State University's Honors College and earned a Double Bachelor's in Public Policy and Psychology with minors in Leadership of Organizations and Spanish.
After graduating from MSU in May 2023, Sadie pursued her Masters of Social Work at the University of Michigan as a part of the 2023-2024 Cohort of Community Based-Initiative Scholars, focusing on community change in the city of Detroit. After graduation, Sadie continued working at the James and Grace Lee Boggs School, a place-based community school in the city focused on educating creative, critical thinkers who contribute to the well-being of their community.
As their school social worker, Sadie is grateful to nurture the next generation of students who share her values and commitment to community, a passion she discovered in her work with HCF.

Congratulations to the 2026 Primrose Leadership Award Recipient: Addison Maxwell
Addison will be attending the University of Tennessee this fall to study Interior Architecture with a minor in Entrepreneurship. While at Hudson High School, Addison participated in various clubs and organizations, however Hudson Community First was always the most meaningful. After her first experience volunteering with HCF, she felt that she had found her purpose in life. Beginning her sophomore year, Addison was selected for the Executive Youth Board, serving as her class representative Sophomore and Junior year, and as President of the youth board her senior year. Her position on the board surrounded her with people who felt like family, and the position allowed her to share her passion with peers. Alongside HCF, Addison has been part of Z Club’s Executive Board, National Honors Society, National Art Honors Society, and worked at Everbowl. At the heart of all her extracurriculars is her love for helping others, whether that be through volunteering, creating art for the community, or helping customers. Addison looks forward to being a Tennessee Volunteer because she believes nothing has value unless you share it with others, something she looks forward to continuing in college. Congratulations to Addison!

A very special “Principal for a Day” took over the Ellsworth Hill building this week!
Vivian’s parents won this experience for her during Hudson Community First’s Toast to Hudson silent auction, and by all accounts, she stepped into the role like a pro.
Her official duties included joining the morning announcements, making a mid-morning announcement that recess would be outside with all play areas open, stamping some payroll paperwork, visiting classrooms, helping during lunch and recess, and even giving her class an extra-long recess.
The highlight of the day may have been using the walkie talkie to communicate throughout the building and call bus numbers during dismissal. And judging by the lunchroom chants of “VIV-I-AN! VIV-I-AN!” her classmates fully approved of her leadership.
Thank you to Mrs. Filomena for making the day so memorable, and thank you to Vivian’s family for supporting Hudson Community First through Toast to Hudson. Experiences like this are such a fun reminder of how community support creates meaningful moments for our kids.
