"Dreams of Youth" features the winners of our Whit Phillips Memorial Young Artist Competition.

Frank Carmona, Jr. - saxophone, Shawn MacGregor - clarinet, and Zen Smith - oboe will show off their talents and skills in solos and playing with the orchestra.

Last night’s gig was at the home of UH President Renu Khator for a special event spotlighting top Indian representatives in Houston. Such a beautiful place to play and Mayor Sylvester Turner made an appearance!

I wish I could post all of my students’ comment sheets because I’m so proud of their hard work coming to fruition and the extra recognition to boot! This student in particular is beyond dedicated and easily one of the most passionate cellists I’ve had the pleasure of teaching. 💕

I’ve been enjoying in the pit for Houston Christian High School’s “Newsies” (the musical) the last few weeks. These are really talented kids doing some insane amounts of choreo on top of all that acting and singing. 2 more chances to catch us at HBU for a matinee and evening show tonight! 📰

The Symphony of Southeast Texas is proud to announce our new season, Playing it Forward. The memorable Maestro Chelsea Tipton II will lead your SOST orchestra in a wonderful array of favorites, with some new pieces sure to be future classics. We are excited about returning to the Julie Rogers Theatre for our concert season. Maestro Tipton and SOST are thrilled to welcome concert goers to a return to live music and the enthusiasm SOST audiences always provide.

The season opener starts with our first Classic Series concert on September 18, 2021. Fate and Fantasy includes the epic works of Sibelius’ Finlandia and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. The amazing violinist Andrew Sords will join us for Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy. Having a celebrated career as a soloist on 4 continents and collaborating with over 300 orchestras, Sords has been cited for combining visceral virtuosity with a ravishing tone. Fate and fantasy, both musical expressions of the human spirit.

Season tickets are available now through October 30th. Prices range from $120-$275 depending on where you sit. This includes the 4 Classic Series concerts and the 2 Pops concerts. Single tickets went on sale September 1 and prices range from $32-$55 for this concert and are available at sost.org.
