Nigeria amalgamation ceremony. Zungeru, January 13th, 1914; The six Nigerians that signed the amalgamation document.
Many Nigerians have asked if there were parties from the southern and northern Protectorate that partook in the declaration of Nigeria, or did the British on their own sign the document in the absence of the people involved?
Southern and Northern Protectorate were joined to form Nigeria in 1914. By then the nationalist we know of now were still little to know what happened. Nnamdi Azikiwe was only 10 years old, Ahmadu Bello was 4 years, Awolowo was 5 years then. Which Nigerian signed the Amalgamation document?
There were only 28 individuals involved in the forceful Amalgamation of the South and the North Protectorate. Out of the 28, only 6 were Nigerians. The rest were all British citizens. Lord lugard the first governor general led the Amalgamation (he was one the one to propose it first) and the final signature was his (Sir Kitoyi Ajasa).
The six Nigerians were;
1. HRH Maiturare Sarkin Mussulumi and Sultan of Sokoto
2. Usuman Dan Maje who later became Emir of Kano
3. Sir Kitoyi Ajasa a lawyer
4. HRH Oladugbolu Alaafin of Oyo
5. HRH R Henshaw (Obong of Calabar)
6. Abubakar Shehu of Borno
These are the Nigerians present at the amalgamation. They were there ceremoniously. From the names above, you would notice that no Igbo man was present in the amalgamation of Nigeria despite the Igbos having powerful leaders like the Obi Okosi of Onitsha, Eze Nri òbalĂke etc The reason is not far-fetched. The Igbos fought strongly against the British rule and they were never in support of their systems. Lagos colony was also against the amalgamation as at then.
The British were more comfortable to deal with Fulani/Northerners. The reason there were more fulani/northerners during the amalgamation. Some believe this is the beginning of the Nigeria problem.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE‼️
The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has reportedly refunded a whopping N4 trillion to the coffers of the Federal Government stolen while he was the at the helm of affairs of the apex bank.
According to a source close to the investigators, besides reportedly returning N4 trillion, Emefiele also allegedly gave up ownership of six banks linked to him.
In a related development, the source revealed that a former CBN Deputy Governor, Tunde Lemo, also reportedly refunded $500 million embezzled taxpayers’ money.
The most shocking of all, however, was the discovery of $275 million in the bank account of a six year old son of Sabiu Yusuf, a.k.a Tunde, a Personal Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Also discovered was another N1.5 trillion in the personal account of the former Personal assistant to former President Buhari.
The source said: “The Special Investigator, Jim Osayande Obazee and his committee, allegedly discovered $275 million in an account in a new generation bank belonging to six years old son of Sabiu Yusuf.
“Another N1.5 trillion also allegedly traced to Yusuf, a very influential member of the former President Mohammadu Buhari’s Govt.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently negotiating, using some influential Nigerians on how to refund the funds without being exposed.
“Only recently, National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, lamented that the current administration inherited a bankrupt country from the Buhari’s government due to the large scale looting that occurred then.”
It could be recalled that Tinubu employed the services of Mr. Obazee, a Special Investigator, to investigate the activities of CBN under Emefiele and related entities.
So far, Obazee has recovered over N12 trillion looted mostly by members of the former President Buhari’s administration.
The source also claimed that the committee has also rejected several millions of Dollars in bribe offers.
Money wey dem go loote again.

Imagine this
You have an uncle who refused to do anything about your release from an unjust detention, only for him to start advising you that the man who is trying to loud the injustice meted against you has an ulterior motive.
This your uncle is someone who have no plans for you. In fact, after his advice, he still didn’t give any reasonable suggestion on how to get justice for you, but only came out from his hiding to advise you against the man that wants to loud your unjust situation on a national and international level, at a time your case is almost being forgotten and your solidarity almost fading.
Now I understand why some call them “otelectuals” in the first place.
This is a case where the detained individual was even in the first place unjustly extra ordinary renditioned, which will lay foundations for such in our system (imagine tomorrow a president start using such process to hunt his political opponents in diaspora)
This is also a case the individual has also been acquitted and discharged by the court. Imagine tomorrow this becomes a norm and the government and even powerful individuals start using it against the ordinary citizens (imagine a political office holder or someone well connected threatening you that he’ll jail you, and not even the court can save you even when you are innocent).
Ok all these uncles….what exactly do you suggest will ensure fairness and justice in his case? Uncle has no suggestion on that. His only suggestion is that the person making the matter a trending national and international issue is doing it based on his political interest motives.
I have seen many of these uncles in this social media space. Many who never had the balls to do beyond making social media noise. These same people who did nothing when their brothers and mothers are being massacred and r@ped in their farms by herders. They kept on with their political correctness until Kanu acted out of no other effective option coming from the government authorities over such killings.
Yes, I have my reservations for Kanu and his approach. I have criticized him in the past. And will definitely still criticize him if he comes out and continue with same pattern. But the point is, if you had kept quiet and done nothing to uphold justice, Sowere is still better than you even if he’s doing it for political selfish gains. If you think we shouldn’t appreciate Omoyele Sowore, come out and bring your own idea let’s follow yours if it’s more reasonable.
Meanwhile for those of you who doesn’t know; Kanu’s unfair and unjust detention is not just about him, it’s a symbol of a regional marginalization and profiling of ndi Igbo. And beyond that, the fight against such injustice is not about Kanu, it’s about the system. If we can’t rely on our judicial system for fairness and justice, then we all are in potential dang€r.

THE IGBO STORY IN THE MOVIE BLACK PANTER
In the movie The Black Panther, Erik Killmonger wore a very distinctive mask that he had taken from the British Museum. Additionally, Killmonger uttered the most famous words of the movie when he said, "just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from the ships because they knew that death was better than bo***ge". There is a deep connection between those words and the mask that Killmonger wore.
The mask of Killmonger is from the Igbo people who are from Eastern Nigeria.
In May of 1803, a significant event took place known as the Igbo Landing. After crossing the Middle Passage, a slave ship arrived in Georgia with a cargo of slaves. 75 of those people were Igbo people and they were sold for roughly $100 each. They were then transferred to another ship to be moved to their destination. Once upon the new ship, the Igbo people rebelled. During the rebellion, the Igbo people killed their captors and took control of the ship. With no way of returning home and facing the likelihood of being recaptured into slavery, the Igbo people agreed to commit suicide...together. They all jumped into the ocean and drowned.
This is what Killmonger was referring to when he said, "just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from the ships because they knew that death was better than bo***ge".

If you know this place, believe me, you'll never mock the African Gods and traditional religion simply because the couldn’t protect our ancestors during the colonial invasion.
The truth is; God is independent of religion, and no deity (be it of any religion) conquers another deity/people in wars. Rather, it's men of higher military strength and discipline irrespective of their religion that conquers their fellow men, impose on them their own deity and way of life, then attribute the victory to their own deity. But in reality, deities do not win wars.
The below picture was a Christian cathedral in Turkey, which was later converted into Mosque after Turkey (a Christian nation and the ancestral home of saint Paul) was conquered by Islam. Today, Turkey is one of the most powerful populous Islamic nations.
Based on the logic of christians who mock African deities and traditional religion because they couldn’t protect our ancestors during colonial invasion, should we also say that the Christian deity couldn't also save the then Turkish Christians, therefore should be regard as powerless ? Turkey that was 99% Christians today are now 99% Muslims.
Let's not even talk about shrines, churches, and mosques that have being destroyed in Africa destroyed in Nigerian, and Christians who have been murd€r€d in cold bl00d, with nothing happening to the perpetrators.
We need to understand this; the first step to achieving a religious conflict free society is by respecting not just your religion but that of others.
No religion is special, rather it is the people that are, and God has no religion.

The earliest evidence of iron smelting and blacksmithing in ancient China dates to around the 9th to 7th centuries BC in Gansu and Qinghai province.
Meanwhile the earliest records of blacksmithing in ancient Igbo land point to iron smelting starting around 2000 BCE at sites like Lejja and Opi Nsukka.
These are verifiable facts which places iron smelting and blacksmithing in Igbo civilization to be older than that of China.
“Mana obukwanu onye bu uzo gbaba oso n’ ebu uzo eru”
Today, the Chinese have advanced their technological ancestral knowledge in iron smelting and blacksmithing to one of the biggest and enviable industries in the world.
On the other hand their seniors in the industry are in churches binding and casting their ancestors. Many of them even accuse their ancestors and their ancestral names to be spiritually responsible for their misfortunes in life. Today, nothing changed in our blacksmithing craft. We can’t even boast of one single iron smelting industry.
Dear Ndi Igbo and Africans in general, our ancestors are not our problem. In fact, the more we disconnect ourselves from them as a people, the more we will continue to be backwards.
Check all the great nations all over the world. Tell me any of them that succeeded by disconnecting themselves from their root. They all became big by continuing from where their ancestors stopped and also learning from others.
Seems our ancestors were far wiser and intelligent than we are today. At least, they invented their own techs, food delicacies, unique cultures and traditions, proverbs, system of leadership, etc. But unlike others that tapped from the knowledge their ancestors left behind, and advanced from where they stopped to where they are today, we succeeded in dem0nizing anything ancestral, yet, now living a 99% life of dependency on others.
“Na so we go Dey go”
Solution:
Do not disconnect yourselves from your root.
The government and capable private individuals should put into consideration funding our local research institutions.
Local based research should be encouraged
Africa wake up

The rumors that the Igbo women were being assessed for taxation sparked off the November 18, 1929 Aba women protest, a mass revolt of Igbo women/or old Eastern region against the British tyranny, were 50 died.
50 died instantly. 75 were severely injured.
Madam Nwanyeruwa from Ngwa, Abia state, led the Aba women protest of Nov. 18, 1929.
It is called the "Aba women protest" not the "Aba women riot". The British tagged it "riot" to favour them.

IGBO COMMUNITIES IN BENUE STATE
The indigenous Igbos in Benue State particularly those in Ado, Oju, Obi and Okpoku LGAs of the state were in existence before the advent of Christian religion in Nigeria.
The Igbos found in Benue are:
Umuezeokoha
Umuezeoka
Oriuzor
Umuoghara
Amaekka
Amaezekwe
These communities were all originally part of Ezza communities; Izzi, Ezzamgbo and Effium. They would have been in present-day Ebonyi State, but since the Nigerian government carved them into Benue in order to suppress the population of the East, they are today indigenes of a state in the north central geopolitical zone.
Apart from the Ezza-speaking clan, particularly the people of Umuezeokoha that has over 300 villages, if you are to calculate the number of Igbo-speaking villages in Benue State (outside Umuezeokaoha), you would be talking altogether about over 600 villages.
Note: Three of the biggest markets in Benue State are all in the Igbo-speaking part (pls do not misunderstand this as boasting. We are just stating fact).
The markets are Inikiri Ichari, Iddah, Iduokpe.
There are also some Igbo speaking Idoma towns in Benue State. A post on that will be coming up soon.

POLICE ARREST ENUGU BUSINESSMAN OVER ALLEGED MURDER-FOR-HIRE AND LAND GRAB SCHEME
The Federal Police have arrested Mr. Kingsley Nebo, an Enugu-based real estate developer and owner of Dandatec Real Estate, for allegedly masterminding the killing of 25-year-old Sochima Onoh on July 12, 2025, in Enugu State.
According to police sources, Nebo was captured alongside five accomplices, while several others are still on the run. The operation was conducted by a special squad from Abuja, deployed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID), following mounting pressure from community members who alleged that local law enforcement had been compromised.
In a video confession, Nebo admitted to paying ₦1 million to the killers who executed the murder. Investigators believe the crime was part of a broader plan to provoke communal violence, providing cover for Nebo to manipulate land ownership records through the Enugu State Geographical Information System (ENGIS) — a method he allegedly used in past land disputes to seize property.
Local residents and community leaders expressed relief and gratitude following his arrest, describing the development as “a long-overdue step toward justice” and a signal that impunity around land-related killings in Enugu will no longer be tolerated.
Authorities have confirmed that Nebo and his accomplices are in federal custody in Abuja, and will face prosecution once investigations conclude. Police also urged members of the public to report information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.
