Sooo…..nearly 11 months later I’m finally able to get back into my account.

I credit it to 1 of 2 things:

1) The 2nd to last Meta Verified Agent I spoke with provided a link to a tech support form that was new. I never received the confirmation email I was supposed to receive indicating my ticket went through and the agent I spoke the next say seemed as clueless and unhelpful as the others, but I guess it’s possible this was what got me back in.

2) I finally took a suggestion I saw on a Reddit thread and submitted a complaint to the Texas State Attorney General’s Office. The AG has an electronic form on their website for submitting complaints with a section specific to social media which allowed me to type an explanation, list the dates I attempted to get assistance from Meta, and include screenshots of all the email responses that were leading me in circles. I also received a confirmation email immediately afterward stating something to the affect of “don’t get your hopes up,” with a text from Facebook that had a link to get back in coming a day later.

I think the 2nd one is what worked. 🤔

The sad part is the hacker’s cell phone number is still listed on my account and every time I try to remove it, I’m prompted to input a code from my (his) 2FA app. 😒

We’ll see how this goes. After all I’ve been through I’m still not a fan of this platform but it’s hard for an artist who’s not signed to network and book shows without it (probably true for signed artists as well). To that end, I’m back…at least for now and will begin posting again once I have something new to share. Until then….

If you’re seeing this on facebook, it’s because my Instagram account is still linked to share posts there. That being said, it’s been almost a year with no help from Facebook/Meta. At this point, I’ll be deleting my Facebook and Instagram accounts soon. I’m sick of this s**t. I’m working on a studio project at the moment and will be more active online once that’s up and running. If you’re seeing this post, it’s because my Instagram is still active and linked to my page in such a way that my Instagram posts still share to my music page (even though I can’t see it myself).

Still can’t access Facebook following hack that took place on 4/12. I reported it within the hour but in that short amount of time the hacker added a new email, new phone number, 2FA using a 3rd party app, and changed the url of my personal page. I reported it and as a result they locked down my personal page (no longer searchable; removed from all tags) yet kept my music page viewable (to everyone but me, since I no longer have a facebook account). Since my music page was linked to my personal page, I lost access to it as well, yet in a strange twist I can pay to Instagram and my Instagram posts are automatically shared to my facebook music page, which I can’t access or view (🤦‍♂️). I paid for meta blue check just so I could speak to a live agent, but none of those live agents can/will help. The issue comes down to the 2FA 3rd party app. The same hacker hacked my LinkedIn profile around the same time, but LinkedIn verified my identity, turned off the 2FA login requirement, and let me log back in to take the account back. Facebook claims they can’t do that but I call bs. They just don’t want to help. Meta verified is a joke (how can my account be meta verified yet I can’t access it) and Facebook is trash. I know they’re the same company, but for now - follow me on Instagram for updates on The Joshua Project, since facebook can’t seem to get its sh*t together. I mean….just look at the number of bots/hackers who responded to my initial post about being hacked, which was posted via Instagram. I only saw the comments through a friends account. All bots and/or hackers. Very reminiscent of the Myspace decline.

He hacked my personal email account a little after 2am Saturday morning and took my page a little after 9am. I only know this because I saw the notifications in my email on my phone a little after 10am when I first tried to check my page. What good is it to send me notifications of suspicious activity if you’re going to let the suspicious parties take over everything before I can respond/confirm they’re not me? 🤦‍♂️ The 2 Factor Authentication crap is what really got me though. How’s you gonna let this guy prove he’s more me than me? 😵
