At our CIS of Houston Gala, Cienne shared her story about her struggle with managing school, working, becoming a new mother, and how those aspects impacted her mental health.
With the support of CIS at Lone Star College, Cienne was able to talk through her struggles with a Program Manager and gain the confidence she needed to reach her goals.

#Throwback to when Marquis Johnson, Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Minnesota Vikings and Houston native, sported sneakers with our CIS of Houston logo during their game against the Las Vegas Raiders!
This was part of an annual NFL shoe/cleat auction highlighting a special charity/organization. Shoutout to our Lone Star College-Kingwood Service Coordinator, Sam Robinson, for making this happen!

Bo's Place
Across our campuses we have seen a large increase in students experiencing grief. Being able to partner with Bo's Place to provide grief support groups to students and families who have experienced the loss of a loved one has made a huge impact.
We are grateful to have such a wonderful partnership with Bo's Place to bring additional mental health services directly on the campuses we serve; services that our students and families may not otherwise be able to access.

Mobile Mental Health
CIS of Houston created a Mobile Mental Health Team to expand mental health services to more students. We have 5 Mobile Mental Health Specialists who provide intensive mental health counseling across various campuses to students identified as needing additional support.
"Our campuses are clustered together geographically, which has given me the opportunity to watch students transition from elementary to middle school, and middle school to high school, and directly work with families and siblings across the neighborhood", says Esther, a member of the Mobile Mental Health Team.
Hear more from Esther about this initiative, and be sure to make a donation to CIS this month to directly support our mental health programming: www.cishouston.org/donate

Mental Health Awareness Month
"One of our CIS core values is that every student should have a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult. I am so grateful to get to be that for our students, especially for those who may not have someone like that outside of school".
This week you can hear from Christi, a Licensed Mental Health Professional, about what providing mental health support for students looks like on her campus.
With your support CIS is can increase the number of licensed mental health professionals on school campuses to provide critical support to students. Make a gift to support the CIS Mental Health Initiative: https://www.cishouston.org/donate

Mental Health
For the past 43 years, supporting students' mental health and well-being has been at the core of what CIS does. The CIS Mental Health Initiative's launch in 2012 enabled us to implement targeted efforts to collectively address the growing mental health needs on CIS campuses.
Learn more from our director of Mental Health & Wellness, Shubhra Endley, LCSW-S, and be sure to tune in next week for another video to learn how we directly support students on our campuses with mental health services. ALL donations to CIS this May will support the CIS Mental Health Initiative: www.cishouston.org/donate

Addressing Students' Mental Health
CIS of Houston has become the frontline provider of mental health services to students on school campuses and collaborates with a number of community agencies to support the mental health and wellness of students at all levels.
Brendan’s story gives insight into the impact CIS mental health support and counseling interventions have on the well-being of our students and their ability to succeed in school.
Please consider making your year-end gift before so CIS can provide more students with critical mental health services in the year ahead. https://www.cishouston.org/eoy-2022
CIS is There for Everyone
For over 43 years, CIS has gone wherever we’re needed and done whatever it takes to empower ALL students for success. Our good friend and Principal in Spring Branch Independent School District , Raymorris Barnes, says it beautifully. Whatever barriers our students may face, we walk by their side to overcome and empower them to succeed.
Donate today to help CIS do whatever it takes to help every student feel seen, heard, and supported so they can reach their greatest potential.
