Hey everyone, I’m Julio Garcia, owner of ICRG Flooring LLC.

I felt like it was Friday evening story time today lol. I figured I’d take a little time to introduce myself and let people know a little about me, especially if you don’t know me personally.

My family and I moved to Houston in 2005 from the Bay Area, California. At that time my main focus was being a teenager, having fun and enjoying life. School honestly wasn’t really my thing at first, but luckily I managed to get focused, hit the books and earn my high school diploma.

My career choice back then was actually to become a veterinarian. I’ve always been a big dog person, so I figured working with animals was what I wanted to do.

Well… life had other plans.

In the summer of 2009 I got into flooring installations while I made up my mind about continuing school or getting a job, and that’s when I realized I actually liked working with my hands. I liked the feeling of accomplishing something after a job was done and seeing the difference it made for homeowners. There’s something satisfying about walking into a space that needs some work and then seeing the finished product when you’re done. Being able to look at it and think, “Heck yeah, I did that.”

In 2017, my youngest brother and I decided to start doing our own work, and that’s when D&A Flooring Installers was started. We had a good run as partners for about 5 years. We worked hard, learned a lot and met some great people along the way. But like all good things, sometimes they have to come to an end, and unfortunately we eventually had to part ways professionally.

After that, starting over on my own felt like a dream that was honestly too big to achieve at the time. So for the next 3–4 years I went back to working for whoever had work available.

During those years I continued gaining experience, not just with flooring but also with seeing how different people run their businesses. I saw things I agreed with and things I definitely didn’t agree with. I didn’t always like how some customers were treated or how certain businesses operated. Questioning their methods and hearing, “Don’t worry about all that, just get it done. This is what I pay you for.” made me think that if I ever had the opportunity to build my own company again, I wanted to do things differently.

And that’s where ICRG Flooring LLC came from.

When I picked the name ICRG, I didn’t pick it because it was easy or because it sounded professional. I picked it because each letter is my children’s first initial. At the end of the day, it represents what I’m trying to accomplish. I’m trying to build something for myself and my family that I can be proud of, with the hope of passing it down to them one day.

Today, even after knowing how hard it is to start from scratch, and with the support of my wife, I got all my chips on myself.

I know there’s a long road ahead and I’m starting from the ground up again, but I’ve been doing flooring for over 15 years. I know the work, I know what I’m capable of, and now I’m giving myself another opportunity to see how far I can take it.

This is just the beginning. The only way to go now is up.

One of the most important steps BEFORE installing flooring: checking the subfloor for flatness. It may look flat to the eye, but a straightedge can tell a completely different story.

Why does this matter?

With glue-down flooring, excessive dips or uneven areas can contribute to poor adhesive contact, hollow-sounding areas, visible irregularities, or premature problems.

With floating floors, an uneven subfloor can leave areas of the floor without proper support, creating movement, soft spots, hollow sounds, or unnecessary stress on the locking system.

The finished floor is only as good as the surface underneath it .That’s why proper floor preparation isn’t something to skip just because the imperfections won’t be visible once the flooring is installed.

At ICRG Flooring LLC, we check the subfloor before installation so we can identify preparation issues before they become flooring problems.

We don’t need to stage the room to show you the floor.

At ICRG Flooring LLC, we like to show our work as it actually looks when we finish our part of the job. No staged rooms, no production set, no turning the installation into a photo shoot.

Just the floor we installed.

The trim, paint, furniture, and final cleanup may belong to someone else — but the craftsmanship under your feet is ours.
