On Thursday, June 5, 2025, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Edna Police Department, executed a search warrant at Blizzy n Blend Smoke and V**e Shop in Edna following reports of illegal activity.

The investigation was initiated after authorities received credible information regarding the presence of illegal gambling machines and the sale of THC v**es to minors. THC is considered a felony, not a misdemeanor, being a penalty group 2 drug.

During the search, deputies located and seized three illegal gambling devices (commonly referred to as 8-liner machines), along with a large quantity of v**e products containing illegal levels of THC.

Throughout the school year, law enforcement officials have been working closely with local school administrators, who report a concerning increase in the number of v**es found in the possession of minors. Authorities are particularly concerned about the rising trend of underage v**e use, especially the growing risk that these devices could be laced with dangerous substances such as fentanyl.

The sale of illegal products—particularly those that threaten the safety of our youth—will not be tolerated. We remain committed to protecting our community, reducing crime, and keeping harmful substances out of the hands of minors.

The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are pending.

David Martin Phillip, age 74, of San Antonio, TX, founder of No Bull Radio passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2025, in Dallas, TX, while visiting family.

David Phillip was born on June 23, 1950. He grew up in San Antonio, where he was in the first graduating class of Holmes High School.

He went on to attend Texas A&M University graduating in 1972 with a degree in Parks and Recreation.

Following college, David met the love of his life, Marguerite, and they shared a beautiful 50-year marriage together.

David's career was as diverse as it was impressive.

In the mid-1970s, he became a real estate broker and mined Uranium.

In the 1980s, he made his mark as an oil and gas producer in Karnes County.

In the 1990s and 2000s David ventured into the film industry where he designed stunning outdoor greenery sets for movies such as Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Courage Under Fire, Pearl Harbor, and Selena.

Most recently, his passion for communication led him to become the owner of No Bull Radio Network, an AM/FM broadcast network with eleven stations and thousands of loyal listeners across South Texas.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Marguerite Wilkes Phillip, his son, David Manson Phillip, his grandson, Force Nylo Phillip, and his brother, Manson Burnett “Bernie” Phillip. He is preceded in death by his father, Manson Cartwright Phillip, his mother, Pearl Yarborough Phillip, and his sister, Nancy Phillip Wharton.

David's legacy is one of innovation, creativity, and a deep love for his family, friends, and community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, TX 78232. A reception with lunch will immediately follow. Later that day, please join the family anytime from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm for a celebration of life at Texas Pride Barbecue, 2980 E Loop 1604 S Access Rd, Adkins, TX 78101.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
