Long-Term Thinking & Building A Business Moat
How can you do things that others can't?
That's the question you must ask yourself if you want to gain a competitive advantage, slaughter the competition and win in business.
Most entrepreneurs try to gain "easy advantages".
They ask the question:
"What's fast, cheap and easy to build that will give us an advantage?".
The problem with easy advantages is that they are replicated easily and when that happens, they are no longer advantages.
Billionaires ask the advantage question another way...
They ask: "What's slow, extremely expensive and excruciatingly hard to build that will give us an advantage?".
The best competitive advantages are the ones with "moats" and high barriers to entry.Sure running ads is the easy advantage but SEO builds a moat around your business.
You've got to give up "Good" to become "Great". The biggest enemy of progress and greatness is "comfort".
A human who's comfortable is a human who's stopped trying to improve.
That's why they call well-paying jobs "golden handcuffs"...
Because people with well-paying jobs can pay the bills and live well, they don't experience any pain or desire to improve.
Comfort feels good right now but it causes you pain in the future.
Pain and discomfort don't feel nice right now but it evolves you and makes you stronger for the future.
Pain and simple: Comfort is the enemy of progress.
The most successful entrepreneurs I know have extremely high pain tolerances.
The actually like the pain!
Breaking The Habit Of Being Yourself
Nobody talks about this...
But business is 50% tactics/logic and 50% psychological.
The biggest challenge most people face is themselves.
The "self" is an interesting thing...
It's not real, it's an abstract term that refers to the different things that make us behave the way we do: Biases, heuristics, tendencies, habits etc.
We grow up thinking "Who am I?" and we cluster together attributes and beliefs over time that define our identity and how we fit in and behave.
When you try to start your own business you wreak havoc with your identity because you have to do things you've never done before...
Things outside of your comfort zone and things that "aren't you".
Clinging to your identity is a surefire way to lose in business.
The winners are the ones who can slaughter their identities and do what's required to get the job done.
And then reinvent themselves.... over and over again.
Agree or should we just be ourselves?
Your Time Delusion: Why you always have enough time
I hear it all the time: "I don't have enough time to do _______".
(Insert life dream and important goal).
Why is it that everybody is too busy being average and claiming they're too tired to be great?
It's messed up.
If you think you don't have enough time to grow your own business, then you're delusional. You do have enough time, you're just being lazy.
Hey you ---- Look in the mirror
People don't have business problems, they have personal problems that reflect in their business.
Show me a business problem and I'll show you it's reflection in its owner.
Owning a business is like having a big mirror held up to you all day long...
The results and success we see from it are merely a reflection of our own behavior, habits, beliefs, and choices.
If you chose to live in denial of this fact -- business will be your worst nightmare and constantly remind you of your issues.
If you chose to accept it and look the truth in the eyes -- business will become your life teacher and best friend.
The people who struggle in life and business try to cheat cause and effect.
They take (or don't take) actions and then deliriously believe they may get (or not get) the associated reactions.
It doesn't matter how hard you meditate, pray or chant "I'm abundant"...
If you don't act, you don't get.
When all is said and done -- You reap what you sow.
Show me somebody who has achieved something big in their life and I'll show you an equally as big amount of hard work.
The more brutally honest you are with yourself in life, the better you will be.

Just as soon as you can get by Dad six pack abs next weekend. ;)
Why productivity is 🐃💩!
The secret is to do less not more.
Why do some people achieve 1,000x more than others?
We all have the same 168 hours a week.
You can only work so hard. You can only do so many things in a day. You can only grind for so long until you burn out.
So I feverishly studied some of the GOATS (greatest of all time) to figure out why...
I uncovered a common theme, a pattern the repeated itself in each and every case.
They FOCUS on the one thing that moves them forward.
Just that single thing. And they work on it every day.
Think - what is the one thing that will solve your biggest problem?
