A monthly clean up must be done with D.E. filter grids through backwash. However, it's important to open the filter and clean/sanitize the cartridges thoroughly every 6 months to run at optimum level.

D.E Filters need to be inspected monthly. If the psi is too high then its time a for backwash. Old D.E. will not sanitize the pool and will cause the pool to go green quickly even with chlorine in the pool!
