No Fosters = No Rescue. 🥺

Today alone, we have had to respond to over a dozen emails requesting help. We love what we do! But, we cannot do it without fosters stepping up. Fostering is the backbone of rescue! Without people to open their hearts and homes temporarily for a dog in need, we can't get them to forever homes.

Meet Bella: Your mini Chunky, Snorting, Zoomie-Fueled Sidekick and Land Seal💥 Size: Medium/Smallish, tubular, approximately 40 lbs of pure love and snack-driven momentum!

Special Skills: Snoring like a chainsaw, impersonating Chewbacca during cuddles, and demolishing toys like it's her full-time job

Bella is a walking contradiction in the best way possible. She's part cuddly lap potato, part household wrecking ball with a heart of gold. She’s got a lot of love to give — and she gives it LOUDLY. Pet her and she’ll reward you with a symphony of piglet/Chewbacca noises that sound like they came from a galaxy far, far away. 🐷🦝🎤

When Bella gets excited (which is often), prepare for spontaneous zoomie tornadoes. She’ll fly around the yard like a stubby torpedo, and toys? Oh, they don’t stand a chance. Bella doesn’t just play with toys — she ends them.

Food is Bella's passion, and she takes mealtime very seriously. Anything standing between Bella and her food bowl is at risk of being body-slammed. That includes furniture, humans, or the laws of physics. 🍽️💨

Bella gets along with the dogs she currently lives with but she still does not have anyone to play with due to her foster siblings being couch potatoes. She’s still learning that leashes are for strolling, not strongman competitions, so you’ll want to keep working on her leash manners (and possibly your biceps).

Bella absolutely LOVES:�🚗 Car rides and running errands (she takes her co-pilot role very seriously)�🚽 Following you into the bathroom like she’s on a secret mission�🛋️ Being the world’s most affectionate couch loaf�📢 Snoring loud enough to summon the HOA

Personal space? Never heard of it. Bella believes your bubble is her bubble. She will be in your lap, your face, or your shadow at all times. You're welcome.

But life hasn’t always been zoomies and snacks for Bella. She came from a tough situation — kept in a garage and neglected by her previous owners. When Bella arrived at the rescue, she was heartworm positive and hadn’t experienced much love or care. But thanks to medical treatment and lots of affection, Bella is now heartworm-free and THRIVING — Oh, and Bella is SO ready for the good life she deserves.

I know everyone just wants that one thing that makes it stop.

The answer that everyone else seems to know.
That one tip.
The missing technique.
The secret.

Reactivity is one of the most challenging behaviours a dog can have.

It will test your patience, your timing and your consistency, time and time again.

Above all else, that's what it requires.

Consistency.

"Sometimes" is a big problem with reactive dogs.

Sometimes we reward.
Sometimes we don't.

Sometimes we move away.
Sometimes we don't.

Sometimes we have a plan.
Sometimes we don't.

And that can keep both you and your dog stuck in that never-ending trigger/reaction cycle.

So why does a checklist help?

Because preparation matters.

And that prep work doesn't happen when you're standing in front of a trigger.

That's where you're putting all that practice into action.

The skills.
The rewards.
The timing.
The plan.

That's the reality of living with a reactive dog.

You need a plan before you need the plan.

Adelaide has already mastered the art of being adorable, brave, and totally hilarious. This gorgeous girl is a Rhodesian Ridgeback / Catahoula Leopard Dog mix – which basically means she’s part adventure buddy, part couch snuggler, and 100% heart.

Yes, she had a rough start in life and lost her tail after being thrown from a moving car (unbelievable, we know) – but please don’t tell her that. As far as Adelaide is concerned, she’s perfect. Her little “nub tail” wiggles so hard her whole back end joins the party. And Look at that Curl on her Ridge! Adorable!!!

I love shows with animals, especially other dogs. I can jump 6 feet into the air, so I need a minimum 6 ft fence when I play outdoors. I like most adults. I don't care for small kids. I like other dogs, but I prefer to be around females. I don’t like dominant, pushy dogs. I can be protective of my food and toys.
