This genuinely hurts. It really hurts deeper than I would think for not having known someone personally. He’s been an inspiration in life and now in the way he faced death.

He passed today at 43. But he battled cancer for 4 years. FOUR YEARS. No public statements, nothing. And he kept working during that time too. He was diagnosed at age 39, which is unfathomable to consider this happening at such a young age.

I can’t comprehend it other than to reflect on a verse of Scripture, James 4:14:

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

Mr. Boseman had such a short life - just like the rest of us - but he made the most of it. Even ill, he continued doing his part to tell important stories that would impact audiences beyond his lifetime.

Tonight I’m lifting up a prayer of comfort for his family as they grieve and a prayer of thanks for his artistry... I don’t know anything about his spiritual life, but I do know that he inspired many with his talent and that a small part of his legacy can be a challenge to make the most of the life we are given.
