Yesterday we had to say farewell to our old and magnificent 80+ ft tall hackberry tree. We want to thank Douglas & Son Tree Service LLC for doing such a stellar job at safely taking down this beast of a tree. We were all sad to see if go...but you can see we were close to a catastrophic collapse. Some may remember we lost several massive limbs from this tree a few years ago during a horrible ice storm and we were lucky then that us nor any of our herd were hurt. We turned the area that this tree was in into our garden last year so we left the trunk as a reminder of what was...and how changes can still be beautiful. The SpookyTrees herd is enjoying their most favorite snack of hackberry aka"crackberry" leaves at least for a few days 😊

Are you ready for a sneak peek at some of the Sires for our big return season?! Some you might recognize ;) We also have a few AI breedings planned but we will wait until those are confirmed to share. I'm in the process of finalizing breeding plans and I will release our tentative list. So enjoy our beautiful boys out for a graze this morning :)

Meet Cerce and Calypso! Thank you to our good friend Debbie Wooding for taking all my hens and letting these two beautiful girls come join the SpookyTrees herd. My husband has wanted peacocks for a long time so it was fun to get to surprise him. Maybe one day we will add a male for some flair 🤣🥰

Meet Texas Skyz T Cup o Joe and her two beautiful daughters, SpookyTrees BC Foul Frappe and SpookyTrees BC Eerie Espresso.
Joe has an outstanding pedigree, is Chocolate with Blue eyes and Moonspots. Joe kids super easy and is a wonderful mother. She would be fabulous to keep on an extended lactation as this girl has a super will to milk (she is still nursingthese two girls). She does milk easily on a machine or by hand.
Frappe is a Chocolate Swiss and Espresso is a standard Swiss.
Frappe and Espresso are sired by DCP X2 Broken Crown.
With my breeding season fast approaching I need to make a few more cuts and these beautiful girls just aren't fitting into my current goals. I'm motivated to move these ladies as a package! Please feel free to message me 😀

I've been silently giddy to get to announce two new additions to the SpookyTrees herd!
Welcome to the herd....
Lovesdown KS Naamah
(DCP KQ King Sparrow x SpookyTrees AM Kikimora 1*M)
and
Lovesdown Fever Dream
(Five Waters IC Callen *B x Aries U Dream Weaver 6*M)
Naahma - brings home some very dear genetics... Of course I am over the moon excited to bring a piece of Kikis genetics back home to our herd. She has made me so proud! Naamahs sire Sparrow is also adding to my DCP lines. This baby girl is going to be a total show stopper when she steps into the ring. With her Dams outstanding general appearance and unbelievable udder and the corrections her Sire has made to her topline and length of rump....I can't wait to watch this girl mature!
Fevie - we all know I love a brick house of a doe....and that is EXACTLY what her Dam is! And to be totally fair this girl was who my husband was on the reservation list for ❤️ Her Sire....well if you dont know who Callen is... more importantly who his Dam is....you need to go do some snooping :) the udder combination of these two and the powerful bodies behind them....there was no doubt we wanted this girl!
I am so thankful to Skylar and Josh McCrory of Lovesdown Ranch for allowing us to add these two beautiful girls to our herd. I cant wait to watch these two mature and make you proud ❤️

A Farmer’s Prayer Before the Freeze
Tonight, we ask for mercy in the cold.
For wind that softens its grip,
for temperatures that ease just enough
to let life hold on.
Watch over the animals tucked into straw and wood,
the quiet breaths in barns and coops,
the ones who trust us without words.
Keep them warm where our hands can’t reach.
Bless the fences, the heaters, the water lines,
the lamps glowing through the dark.
Bless the tired hands that checked one more time,
and the hearts that won’t rest until morning.
We’ve done what we can.
Now we place the rest in Your care.
Carry us through the long night,
and let the morning come gentle.
Amen 🤍

Here we are...another year quietly ending. Some members left our herd, heading to make great lives in their new homes. A few new hooves have joined the herd and we are so excited for them. A few muzzles trotted through a couple of show rings and the ladies (and us) took a well deserved break from kidding this season. We have made great plans for pairings for fall 2026 as we ramp up for some very exciting kiddings. We are making BIG changes to how we are doing things in the coming year and I will be putting all our does on milk test to finally earn all these hard working ladies the stars they deserve. I'm looking forward to the hard work and long hours with my girls! Thank you to everyone that has helped to make this year amazing for us, for everyone that told me to take the break.. my heart and soul needed to just enjoy my herd again. Merry Christmas and may the New Year shine bright....from all of us and our herd, Spooky Trees Farm ❤️💚
