🍩🌳 Happy National Donut Day! 🌳🍩
Sure, donuts make people happy... but did you know trees love donuts too?
Not the glazed kind — we're talking about proper donut-shaped mulch rings!
A correctly installed mulch ring:
âś… Keeps mulch away from the trunk
âś… Helps retain soil moisture
âś… Protects roots from stress and damage
âś… Promotes healthier, stronger trees

So today, while you're enjoying your favorite donut, take a look at your trees and make sure they have one too! 🍩🌳

Good mulching isn't a HOLE lot of work... just make it a DONUT!

🌪️ HURRICANE SEASON STARTS TODAY 🌪️
June 1 marks the beginning of hurricane season, and now is the time to make sure your trees are ready before the first major storm arrives.

Many storm-related tree failures are caused by issues that were already present:
🌳Incorrect weight distribution
🌳 Hidden decay
🌳 Structural defects
🌳 Trees growing too close to homes, driveways, or power lines

The best time to prepare your trees is before a storm, not after.
A proactive inspection can help identify potential hazards, reduce the risk of property damage, and give you peace of mind throughout hurricane season.

Recent storms and heavy rains have saturated soils across our area, increasing the risk of tree failures. This week we removed this large Sycamore that uprooted after the recent wet weather. It's a good reminder that not all tree failures happen during the storm itself—many occur days or weeks later when weakened root systems finally give way. Hurricane season starts MONDAY! If you've been putting off having your trees trimmed, now is the time.

🌳 Fun Fact Friday
Trees don't heal—they seal.
When a tree is wounded, it doesn't "heal" like people do. Instead, it creates specialized barriers to compartmentalize decay and protect healthy wood.
That's why proper pruning cuts matter so much.
🌳 Healthy cuts today = healthier trees tomorrow.

Installing fungal compost rings around these 4 Crape Myrtles🌱
Healthy soil = healthier trees. Over time, our soils can become compacted and depleted of the beneficial fungi and microorganisms trees naturally rely on. Adding fungal compost around the base of crape myrtles helps:
• Improve soil biology
• Increase moisture retention
• Reduce stress during heat and drought
• Encourage stronger root development
• Slowly release natural nutrients back into the soil
Think of it as rebuilding the living ecosystem beneath the tree. Strong roots and healthy soil are what keep ornamental trees thriving long-term — not just looking good for one season.
Proper mulch and compost applications also help protect the root flare area from mower and w**d eater damage while moderating soil temperatures through the Texas summer.

🌳 Texas trees have been through a lot over the last few years — drought, freezes, hurricanes, flooding, and extreme heat.

We put together our 2026 Texas Tree Health Report to explain the patterns we’re seeing across Houston and surrounding areas, what property owners should watch for, and how proactive care can help trees recover before issues become hazardous.

Take a look through the report screenshots below 👇
If you have concerns about your trees, our ISA Certified Arborists are always happy to help evaluate their health and long-term stability.

ONLY 34 days until hurricane season.
Past years showed us how quickly things can change. One storm is all it takes.

Now is the time to address:
• Dead or weakened limbs
• Overextended branches near your home
• Dense canopies that catch wind

A little preparation now can make a big difference later.
