Meet our ACCOLADES Luncheon emcee! 🎤

Emmy Award–winning journalist and FOX 26 Houston reporter Leslie DelasBour TV is a proud Houston native whose mother spent 38 years working in foster care and adoption, and whose late father served as an HFD Captain.

Emceeing for CHILDREN AT RISK is a full-circle moment for Leslie, uniting her love for Houston, her passion for children and families, and the legacy of service her parents built.

This Thursday, the Texas Family Leadership Council is bringing family leaders and experts together to share perspectives on the issues shaping children and families across our state.

From October through November, our early childhood education team will travel across Texas to meet with 12 communities, discuss the state of their local early childhood education ecosystems, dive into data on child care quality, access, and spending, and explore policy solutions ahead of the 90th .

Friend, Family, and Neighbor (FFN) care plays an essential role in helping parents work, navigate changing schedules, and make sure their children are cared for by someone they trust. Yet too often, these caregivers struggle to access the resources and supports they need themselves, including fair wages, health care, groceries, and other benefits.

As we advocate for in 2026, FFN caregivers must be part of the conversation alongside traditional child care providers. That means recognizing the role they already play in our child care system and building policies that better support the caregivers families rely on every day.

Did you know? With the rising cost of food, many FFN caregivers are working hard to provide nutritious meals and snacks while navigating the financial challenges that come with supporting children and families.

Friends, Family, and Neighbor caregivers show up every day to feed and nurture the children in their care, but some research shows that 34% experience food insecurity themselves.

This , we're asking the community - what can be done to help providers and families access the healthy food options they need for the kids they care for?
