Hey lovely souls! 🌸 I’m Lorvena, a passionate labor and delivery nurse with three amazing years of hands-on experience. Let’s rewind a bit – I started my journey in the vibrant heart of Haiti and landed on the sunny shores of Florida as a wide-eyed, five-year-old dreamer. Since my earliest memories, I felt a calling to care for people. Nursing school and a life-changing obstetric rotation unveiled my true passion. A transformative two-month mission trip to Liberia, Africa, opened my eyes to the profound love I have for women’s health, expectant mothers, and the incredible journey of giving birth. I saw it all – the beauty, the mess, and the life-changing moments. Back in Florida, I eagerly embraced my nursing career in labor and delivery, excited to be part of modern medicine and provide crucial resources to my patients. Yet, it was also an awakening. I noticed gaps in education, informed consent, and autonomy for women and families, particularly in low-income communities. This realization fueled “The Labor Lounge” and my journey to become a childbirth educator. Currently in training with the esteemed Lamaze Childbirth Educator program while continuing to practice as an L&D nurse. My mission is clear – to empower as many women and families as possible with the knowledge they need to shape their own unique birth experiences. Whether it involves interventions or not, an epidural or au naturel, I believe in empowering women to make these choices confidently.
