William R. Jenkins Architecture, Design, and Art Library
The William R. Jenkins Architecture and Art Library provides information and services on architecture, fine and applied arts, and design.
It proudly serves the students, faculty, and staff at the University of Houston.

On this and every day, we are grateful to be part of a community of art and design scholars dedicated to developing their knowledge and skills, sharing their creativity, and impacting others through their work.
Thanks, also, to our Circulation Manager, Mr. Torres-Torres, who developed our first Booksgiving display. Come by the library next week to see books recommended by our students and instructors. When a book is borrowed, the person who recommended it will receive a gift bag from us. And the patron who borrowed it will have a treasured book to enjoy over the winter break.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Call and Response is an artistic collaboration between Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts visiting artists Alex Julyan and Stephen Montague and students at the Moores School of Music and Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design. It's not the first music composed for the College of Architecture and Design building. Doug Michels proposed a music event featuring percussion from a helicopter flying over the building in 1999. See the Doug Michels Architectural Papers in the UH Libraries' Special Collections for more information.

It was standing room only at Books and Bytes last night when Dr. Rafael Beneytez-Duran spoke about his book Bodies of Air: Air as Architectural Materiality (Materialidad del Aire).

This week's book display is inspired by Prof. Jillian Conrad's Fullbright Scholarship in Wales.

Today was Edith Villasenor Cruz's last day working in the William R. Jenkins Architecture, Design, and Art Library. She began working with us as a student shelver nine years ago, before being promoted to Supervisor and, finally, Circulation Manager. She has contributed so much to the success of her students, professors and colleagues and will be missed by everyone. She became the spirit of the Jenkins Library and will continue to be an example of empathetic leadership and respectful service to those of us who have had their pleasure of working with her.

Join us for the next Books and Bytes on Nov 8th!
