I was literally in tears, exhausted from juggling my teaching salary with a booming real estate business. Picking up the boys, heading to showings, and dealing with backseat fights became too much. In my third year, I made the leap to full-time real estate and never looked back. Now, at 47 I own my own brokerage with 14 agents, including family members. It's been a true blessing.

Our community has lost trust – within each other, in officials, and even in ourselves. This isn't new; it started long before us. Our grandparents had a different era of trust, with tabs at the grocery store sealed by a handshake. Something eroded that, whether through personal gain or broken promises, turning distrust into lasting hurt. And hurt people, hurt people.
