Lucky Dog Rescue Houston
Lucky Dog Rescue is no longer "active" (after serving Houston for more than 9 years).
We exist mainly to support the dogs who have been adopted through our program and to support ongoing rescue efforts in Houston through various groups we support.

Going to a shelter unless she gets a foster TODAY. Iris needs a foster today 🙏🙏 Contact Bully Rescue (details below) if you can help. They will take her into their group but she has to have a foster.
Unfortunately, Iris family can’t keep her any longer and she’ll be heading to the shelter today. We truly want to help Iris but we need a foster in order to do so. Her family has gone above and beyond for her but due to her behavioral issues they can’t keep her any longer. Iris needs an active family, a family that will give her structure, and be patience with her. Iris does okay with other dogs but due to her energy level she’ll do better as an only dog or with a dog that’s also very active. Iris likes kids but she’ll do best in a home with kids over the age of 6 since she’s so active and doesn’t like people come near her food.
If you can help Iris please consider doing so 🙏🙏🙏

This is Reba. And this is her third chance. 💙
Reba was adopted from us a couple of years ago into what we believed was a loving home. She left healthy, cared for, and ready to live out her happily-ever-after.
A few months ago, Reba was found as a stray.
Not surrendered.
Not returned.
Found.
She was picked up by Galveston County Animal Control, who quickly contacted us so she could come back where she was known and loved. We are heartbroken by what she’s been through—but incredibly grateful she made her way back to us.
Reba returned with torn skin, fleas, and painfully underweight. And the hardest news of all—she is now heartworm positive.
Shelterluv - KennelCards
Despite everything, Reba is still Reba.
She is a 7-year-old senior girl who is gentle, laid-back, and quietly loving. She does well with people and other dogs, enjoys her walks, and is always happy to settle in for a good nap. No puppy training required—just patience, comfort, and consistency.
Reba needs a foster (or adopter!) so she can begin heartworm treatment in a calm, loving home.
All medical care and treatment costs will be fully covered by us. A foster or adopter would simply need to bring Reba to her scheduled appointments.
We took care of Reba once.
We’re committed to taking care of her again.
What she needs now is someone willing to open their home and heart so she can finish her treatment and finally get the future she’s always deserved.
If you can foster or adopt Reba—or want to learn more—please reach out to us.
Sharing her story helps too.
Reba is safe.
Reba is loved.
Now she just needs her person. 💙🐾

Volunteers needed on 1/24 at Bayou Animal Services & Adoption Center. Details below! Shares appreciated!
🛠️ Volunteer Help Needed – January 24th at 1:00 PM 🛠️
On January 24th at 1:00 PM, we’re asking for a little help from our community to take care of something that’s not easy — but very important.
The shed that houses our freezer for animals who have passed away is in very poor condition and needs to be replaced. This freezer is a necessary part of shelter operations, and maintaining it with dignity and respect matters deeply to us.
The new shed has been donated, and the incredible team from Wildlife Rehabilitation Galveston County will be on site with all tools needed to build it.
What we need now are:
💪 strong backs
❤️ open hearts
🤝 a few willing volunteers to help with the build
📍 Location:

Thank you for showing up for every part of this work — even the hard parts. Your help allows us to continue caring for every animal with the dignity they deserve, from beginning to end. 💙

Important to share, please!
It’s the holiday season 🎄✨ and we want to remind everyone that roadside animal sales are ILLEGAL in Harris County. While many people are searching for the perfect gift, they may feel tempted to stop by a roadside vendor selling puppies like Dobermans, Yorkies, German Shepherds, Pugs, and more, but these sales are against the law and often contribute to unsafe breeding practices 🚫🐶.
As of September 1, House Bills 2012 and 2731 (89th Legislature) expanded enforcement authority to surrounding counties, allowing them to uphold similar bans on open-air animal sales 📜⚖️.
If you come across roadside puppy or kitten sales in Harris County, please report them to us at (281) 999-3191 📞. Be sure to take photos and note the exact location. 📸📍 Your report helps us combat animal overpopulation and protect pets in our community 🐾.
And remember, Harris County Pets has hundreds of wonderful pets waiting for loving homes ❤️🏡. Skip the roadside sellers and choose adoption!
