My good friend, Toney Mulhollan, owner of Illumination Publishers, (ipibooks.com) asked me to post this sales advert for my book on Paul. Toney continues to believe that this book deserves a wider reading audience than it has enjoyed thus far. Of course, I agree that it is a good book, with a very interesting back-story to its writing -- described in the Introduction. So, here is the ad Toney sent and asked me to post.

What if one familiar word in our Bibles has shaped the way we think about church for centuries?

"When James I of England decided to sponsor a new translation in 1607, he gave the translators a list of thirteen “suggestions,” and one of those was that they use the word “church” to translate ecclesia. (But remember he is the king!) Since as king, James I was the head of the Church of England, I can only assume he wanted to remain head of something more official-sounding than a gathering or assembly. This Bible, released in 1611, eventually became known as the King James Version (KJV) or the Authorized Version (AV), and it became so ingrained into the English-speaking culture that virtually every English translation since has used the word church, even though most translators know other words are much better" - Tom Jones

Dynamic Leadership Principles, Roles and Relationships for a Life-Changing Church This book will help you learn the biblical concepts of leadership and how to implement them to produce a life-changing church. The book is divided into four sections: Part One: Leadership Principles Part Two: Leadership Roles Part Three:...

"If I had been one of Jesus’ advisors, I probably would have suggested that he hold back his message about love for enemies until he had really made a great connection with the people, and then had taught them about loving their own families and loving their friends. I would have suggested first warming up his followers and then gradually breaking them into this more radical teaching" - Tom Jones.

Jesus didn’t ease us into the hard parts of discipleship.

What would change in us, and in the way we follow Jesus, if we took this command seriously?
