I have been enjoying meeting with this group of pastors. We are going through a series on Exegetical Preaching and have had some great discussions. When we finish this series, I look forward to the next one.

We have been having as many as 200 kids at project Samuel on Saturdays. It’s been great seeing the teams take shape. They even come other days of the week to practice and train. Our hope is to give the kids in the community a place to come and get involved. To be a part of a team and Learn Leadership skills. To hear about Jesus. If they are here then they are not involved in things they shouldn’t.

At Project Samuel, we believe the sports fields can be a place of growth just as much as the classroom.

This year we’re launching football (soccer) and netball programs for boys and girls in our surrounding community. Games will be held every weekend here at Project Samuel, building up to quarterly tournaments that bring teams together for healthy competition and community. Each weekend will also include time for Bible teaching and encouragement, helping young people grow not only as athletes—but in their faith and character.

Our heart is to give the youth something strong and positive to run toward, so they are less drawn to the bars, peer pressure, and other harmful influences around them. Through teamwork, they’ll learn leadership, accountability, discipline, and how to support one another.

We’re praying that every practice, every match, and every conversation helps point these young men and women toward hope, purpose, and a better future.
