As BakerRipley expands access to meals, connection, and supportive services for older adults across Harris County, volunteers like Mary Apodaca help bring that sense of community to life.

Mary has been involved with BakerRipley for nearly four years and has seen firsthand how much it means for seniors to have a place where they feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to stay active.

For Mary, BakerRipley’s Senior Health and Wellness program is about more than meals. It is about giving older adults a reason to get out of the house, keep moving, connect with others, and feel part of something.
Watch Mary’s story to hear why this work matters and how community support helps make it possible.

As BakerRipley expands its Senior Health and Wellness network to 26 sites across Harris County, we are reaching more older adults with meals, activities, connection, and support.

For senior Neighbors like Gwendolyn Todd, this work matters.
Gwendolyn has been part of BakerRipley’s Senior Health and Wellness community for more than two years. To her, the center is not just a place to receive a meal. It is a place where seniors are welcomed, respected, and treated with dignity.

“They speak with you and work with you with respect and dignity. From the moment you walk through the door, it feels like you’re going into your own home.”
