Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865 — the day enslaved Black Americans in Texas learned of their emancipation. It is a celebration of freedom, Black culture, and the enduring strength of a people who never stopped fighting for justice.

We honor this day and every story of resilience it represents. At BakerRipley, we carry that spirit forward by working every day to expand opportunity and equity for all.

Happy Juneteenth.

The East Aldine community showed up strong for our Disaster Preparedness Resource Fair. More than 150 families filled the reunion hall to access critical preparedness resources and hands-on demonstrations not typically offered at our regular events.

Neighbors learned how to weatherize windows, use a fire extinguisher safely, and wrap pipes ahead of a freeze, walking away with practical skills to better protect their homes and families.

Each family received essential safety items, including fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and other preparedness tools, with many also receiving power banks. The appreciation from neighbors was clear. They valued the interactive experience as much as the resources provided.

Organized by Ready East Aldine, this event reflects what’s possible when community voice and strong partnerships guide the work. Together, we are helping build a more prepared and resilient East Aldine.

Thank you to all the partners for participating in the event
