Could Chris Brooks Jr.’s Loyalty Give Wisconsin a Big Boost?

Wisconsin wide receiver Chris Brooks Jr. has chosen to stay with the Badgers even in the era of NIL and the transfer portal. Brooks said Wisconsin believed in him coming out of high school, so he never felt it was right to leave the program during tough times. In his view, college football is supposed to be about committing to a school, earning a degree, and giving everything to the program. Even as the college football landscape continues to change, Brooks remains determined to give Wisconsin his all.

In Wisconsin’s 36-9 win over Western Illinois, Brooks caught two passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Through two games this season, he has five catches for 77 yards and one score. The Badgers are hoping he can build on his 2025 numbers, when he recorded just 11 catches for 124 yards, and take on a bigger role in 2026. As a former three-star recruit, Brooks’ commitment to Wisconsin could make him an important piece of coach Luke Fickell’s offense.

Will Oregon Bounce Back Like 2025 Alabama or Collapse Like Penn State?

No. 6 Oregon’s shocking loss to Oklahoma State has raised major questions about the Ducks’ season. According to Josh Pate, Oregon now has two paths: respond to the loss like 2025 Alabama and use it as motivation, or let one defeat derail the season like Penn State. The Ducks are still 1-1, and conference play has not even started, so there is no reason to consider the season over just yet.

Pate believes Oregon still has plenty of time to turn things around, but the team must learn from its mistakes and show more effort and physical dominance on the field. The Ducks have talented receivers and an elite quarterback, but talent and reputation alone do not win games. In the 12-team College Football Playoff era, one loss is no longer a season-killer, but Oregon must take care of business and win its upcoming games.

Did Steve Sarkisian Take a Shot at Teams That Schedule Weak Opponents?

No. 4 Texas pulled off a stunning 24-23 comeback win over No. 1 Ohio State in college football. The Longhorns trailed 23-3 at one point, but they scored 21 unanswered points to complete an incredible comeback. After the win, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian took a shot at teams that begin their seasons against weaker “cupcake” opponents. He suggested that easy wins do not provide much value for a team, while facing a strong opponent like Ohio State shows what a team is truly capable of. With the victory, Texas improved to 17-14 against ranked opponents during the Sarkisian era and has now won three straight games against ranked teams.

Quarterback Arch Manning also played a key role in Texas’ comeback. After a quiet first three quarters, Manning stepped up when it mattered most, completing 13 of 19 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown over his final three drives. He also added 33 rushing yards. Manning called the victory a satisfying response to last year’s loss to Ohio State and praised his teammates for finding a way to win. Texas is now 2-0 and will face UTEP in Week 3 before opening its conference schedule against No. 18 Tennessee on September 26.

Ahead of the SEC matchup between Alabama and Kentucky, both teams have released their initial injury reports. For Alabama, the biggest concern is offensive lineman Michael Carroll, who has been listed as doubtful. Running back AK Dear and defensive back Jireh Edwards are both questionable.

For Kentucky, offensive lineman Jay Clark has been ruled out, while three other players remain questionable.

Both teams enter the matchup with a 1-0 record after winning their Week 1 games. Alabama is currently a 10.5-point favorite and will look to extend its eight-game winning streak over Kentucky.

Could Bryce Underwood’s Poor Play Ruin Michigan’s Season?

Michigan escaped with a dramatic 13-12 win over Western Michigan thanks to a last-second Hail Mary, but QB Bryce Underwood’s disappointing performance has raised serious concerns. Underwood completed just 11 of 21 passes for 123 yards and also lost a costly fumble at a crucial moment. ESPN’s Bo**er McFarland warned that things could get worse if Underwood does not improve quickly. Head coach Kyle Whittingham also made it clear that Underwood’s QB1 job is not guaranteed. Now, Michigan’s upcoming game against Oklahoma will be a major test for Underwood.

Is Dabo Swinney’s Era Coming to an End?

LSU delivered a stunning 51 10 victory over No. 23 Clemson, making an impressive statement under new head coach Lane Kiffin. LSU racked up more than 600 total yards, while quarterback Sam Leavitt bounced back brilliantly after throwing an early interception. On the other hand, Dabo Swinney’s Clemson team looked completely helpless throughout the game. Despite the off-field controversy and drama surrounding Kiffin, he kept LSU focused, and the Tigers dominated on both offense and defense. After this emphatic win, Lane Kiffin and LSU are emerging as a new force in college football.

Was One Second Added to the Clock to Help Michigan Win?

Michigan’s controversial 13-12 victory over Western Michigan has reignited the debate over fairness in college football. Western Michigan appeared to have pulled off a massive upset, but after a review, officials added one second back to the clock, giving Michigan one final Hail Mary opportunity. Bryce Underwood then delivered a 47-yard pass, which JJ Buchanan caught for the game-winning touchdown.

The Big Ten later explained that a Western Michigan player had touched the ball with one second remaining, even though both the TV broadcast and stadium clock appeared to show that time had already expired.

The decision has sparked even more criticism because of the growing gap in NIL money and resources between major programs like Michigan and smaller schools. Interestingly, Michigan was also involved in a similar clock controversy against Penn State in 2005, when officials found additional time and the Wolverines scored the winning touchdown.

Western Michigan accepted the Big Ten’s explanation, but the controversy leaves one major question: Is the playing field in college football really fair for every team?

Steve Belichick Allegations Spark Controversy at UNC

UNC head coach Bill Belichick could barely celebrate his team’s win over TCU before the program became embroiled in another controversy. Following UNC GM Michael Lombardi’s resignation, reports have now emerged that defensive coordinator and Belichick’s son, Steve Belichick, is also being investigated. Meanwhile, former New England Patriots player Chad Johnson urged Bill Belichick to take responsibility rather than defend him, arguing that a head coach is ultimately accountable for the actions of his staff and players. Reports also claim that investigators questioned people about alleged drug use by Steve Belichick on university property. After UNC’s disappointing 4-8 record in 2025, the latest controversy has once again raised serious questions about Belichick’s tenure with the Tar Heels. Could the Offensive Line Decide Keelon Russell’s Future?

Nick Saban has come to the defense of new Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell while shifting the bigger question toward Kalen DeBoer’s offensive line. According to Saban, Russell has impressive playmaking ability, but his success could depend heavily on how well Alabama has fixed the pass-protection and rushing problems that hurt the team last season.

In 2025, Alabama’s offensive line allowed 33 sacks and 183 quarterback pressures, while the running game also struggled against ranked opponents. Now, after losing four key starters and an experienced transfer, DeBoer must quickly build a new offensive line and prepare Russell for the physical demands of SEC play. Alabama has finalized its starting offensive line during fall camp, with players such as Racin Delgatty and Michael Carroll expected to play important roles.
