This guy has come a LONG way! Bruno, My Cane Corso, is very well trained, socialized as a puppy, etc yet he still sees new things as intimidating/ a potential threat to him. When i took him on as a puppy, I foresaw this exact predicament. He went from not being able to step into a doorway that wasn’t his, to now being comfortable in his own skin, and having enough confidence to take the steps forward on his own without needed the extra help.
Our goal now is for him to THRIVE in all environments! Will he ever see new people and things as something fun and exciting? Probably not. Regardless, we will aim for Excellence and settle for being Great.

“Reese,” a Doberman puppy, was rescued just last month and has very little confidence in himself. He struggles with even the slightest perceived social pressure.

During my evaluation, it didn’t appear that he was completely stuck in fight-or-flight. Instead, it looked like he was constantly battling internally, wanting to engage and take food, but hesitating because of his uncertainty. That gives me a lot of hope.

What stood out to me was that he wasn’t completely shutting down. He was thinking, processing, and trying to make a decision. That tells me there’s something to build on.

Our focus with Reese will be helping him develop confidence, resilience, and the ability to work through uncertainty instead of feeling overwhelmed by it.

Let’s get him right.
How would you handle a dog like Reese? What would be your first steps in building confidence with a fearful puppy?

Excuse the wind🙏🏾 but, Roxy(in muzzle) DESPISES the small dog i’m walking(Ash), This is one of those cases where i don’t believe they could EVER be around each other unsupervised. she has tried to attack this dog on multiple occasions and vice versa. we are on a trip with fam and Ash was brought without me knowing beforehand, so they are forced to be near each other for 2days. I can’t change her mindset in this timeframe toward him but i can DEMAND OBEDIENCE whether she likes him or not. This is one of the few times i would exclusively address obedience instead of the mindset. Thoughts?
