An update from my earlier post. This pic is of happier times in the Tulsa Expo Center. As mentioned before, racing is an emotional sport with the highest highs and lowest lows. That's what keeps us in love with the sport. The highs you just want to chase more and the lows you just want to get up and to the next high. The excitement for Maverick to run the Chili Bowl was one of those highs. Then the low hit when the opportunity was snatched away as quickly as it developed. Terminal engine issues kept the car from making one competitive lap. So all Maverick can do is dig in and focus on getting that next high. While proud of the effort and very thankful to all of the support, sometimes a short memory is good in this sport. Maverick - spring time will be here quicker than you think and with it comes an opportunity to get another emotional high and we all look forward to it.

I've been quiet on her for quite a while, but want to share ELKINS Racing is still alive and well in 2025. Over 50 years of racing continues now with the 3rd generation of racers. Three of my grandchildren will strap behind the wheel this year and I couldn't be happier about it. All three moving up in divisions with youngest 7 year old Logan moving up to Jr Sprints, his sister Laney beginning her rookie year in a Restricted A class car and Maverick will compete in a variety of classes from micros and sprint cars to full midgets.
It all starts this coming week with the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa and Maverick. The Chili Bowl is without argument the largest professional midget race of the year with the best in the world competing. Maverick will be taking to the track in this race driving the 4E car as a true rookie with only a handful of practice laps in this type of car. Besides the daunting task ahead for him and the team just competing in the event is a lifetime experience that they will surely work to make the best of. This has all become possible with a lot of support from many friends, family and partners. A sincere thank you to each and everyone that has contributed to Maverick's racing getting to this point.
Flo Racing will be airing the Chili Bowl beginning Monday evening and if you can tune in please check it out and help us cheer Maverick on to a successful race.

Back in Texas and another Tulsa Shootout in the books. Our bid for a Golden Driller came up short. A 7th to 4th in the non wing stock B main and a DNF in the outlaw non wing B main. There were some bright spots and some not so bright spots, but that’s not unusual for a Tulsa Shootout. Most importantly we had a great time and some great racing.
Thank you to everyone that supported the effort. A special thanks to Ricky and Shannon for making it all happen and packing 4 race cars, tools, spares and more in a two car race trailer. Then settling up the big screen tv so we could wa all the action between our races. You guys are a blessing.
Back to work and onward into 2024. Hope everyone has great year.

Tulsa Shootout today has Maverick locked in to the qualifiers in 2 of the three classes. Non wing outlaw and non wing stock. Needing the racing gods to keep shining down on us and advance to the A mains.
Feeling grateful for all of the support it’s a great day to be racing
More to come-25

Race night at Gulf Coast Speedway last night resulted in a DNF for the 25. Maverick went from P4 to P2 in the heat. Started the feature P4 and got the lead on lap two only to drop to second a few laps later and then slowly slip backwards as our motor was starting to laydown. Progressively got worse and Maverick wisely pulled it in before it stuck a rod out of the case. Bummed, but glad we blew up now before the big Dawg 50 race in two weeks. Our other drivers had better results with Logan driving from fourth for a late pass to finish 3rd and Laney with a remarkable drive to get her fourth feature win of the year. She jumped to the lead at the start and got passed in lapped traffic and then charged back persisting for several laps to retake the lead with a pass around the outside. It was big moves and the GIRL was great. Very proud of all of them.
