Girl scouts working hard on their NFCYM awards. Thanks to out adult volunteers who helped the juniors make bread and the cadettes make candles and allowing all to take a break for archery. The weather took a bit of a turn but still a beautiful God-filled day.

GHACCYO - Home The Galveston-Houston Archdiocesan Catholic Committee for Youth Organizations. This committee facilitates the NFCYM and AHG awards for youth in our archdiocese.

Fall events Scheduled

August 17 - Launch Day at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton 9am -1 pm

September 21 - Patch Day on Our Lady of Walsingham at OLW starting at 10 am. Check the website for registration information. www.ghaccyo.org

Anyone interested in joining our committee is welcome to join us at our monthly committee meetings. We are taking July off but please join us virtually on Monday, August 12 at 8:30 pm. Meetings are kept to under 1 hour whenever possible. Generally, meetings this year will be on Thursday evenings. The Teams link is available through our website under "Committee".

There are some good summer programs for our youth. Learning about and growing in our faith does not take a summer vacation. Check out the Peacemakers' flyer for middle school youth. Cost is just $25 and includes lunch. There are several forms to fill out to get registered. Contact Randy Adams at [email protected] or Jeanette Gonzalez at [email protected] for information or send me a PM and I can email the forms to you.

For younger children, please post here if your parish is putting on a Vacation Bible School. Some of the activities may count towards work needed for their religious emblem. Here is the link for the St. Thomas More VBS located in SW Houston. https://stmhouston.org/vacation-bible-school

Summertime is a good time to do some work on the Catholic awards while the kids are out of school and spending time with family. Workbooks may be purchased through the ghaccyo.org website.

Check back with us to find out when Launch day will be. This is a day to help youth get started on their workbooks, but there is nothing stopping you from starting on them now.

Please rsvp for the June 15th Committee retreat at St. Martha's in Kingwood. Anyone interested in joining the committee or even just wanting to find out what we do, is welcome to join.
