“Today the Fifth Circuit rightly required the FDA to do its job and to restore crucial safeguards for women and girls, including ending illegal mail-order abortion,” Hawley said during a virtual press conference. “The FDA will finally be made to account for the damage it has caused to the health of countless women and the rule of law by unlawfully removing almost every meaningful safeguard from the chemical-abortion drug regimen.”

The FDA’s decisions around approving brand-name Mifeprex in 2000, and then loosening restrictions on the pills in 2016 and 2021, were driven by politics, she said, “without regard to women’s health or the rule of law.””

This decision will be appealed and is not immediately in effect but this is a HUGE step in the correct direction.

Issue 1 would bump the threshold for passing an amendment from a simple majority (50% + 1) to a supermajority of 60%. Ohio is 1 of only 10 states to require only a simple majority vote to amend our most important document (the constitution) 📜

It’s crucial to pass Issue 1 in August, because that will make it significantly harder for the pro-abortion amendment to pass in November.

The Abortion Amendment would:

👶🏻: Allow abortion up to BIRTH!
👨‍👩‍👧: Eliminate parental consent and parental notification laws for minors seeking abortions
💊: Allow chemical abortions over-the-counter
❌: Eliminate the Down Syndrome Nondiscrimination Act
⏱️: Eliminate the 24-hour waiting period for abortions
🥼: Eliminate health and safety standards for abortion clinics

PLUS, it would allow minors to receive cross-sex hormones and gender reassignment surgery — without parental consent or notification!
