Little Heroes, Lifesaving Skills! ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธโค๏ธ ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธโค๏ธ

Our team had an amazing time at Hickโ€™s Elementary teaching students lifesaving skills every kid should know โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

From learning what itโ€™s like to work in the ER ๐Ÿš‘ to practicing CPR compressions on manneikins ๐Ÿ’“, these students stepped up BIG TIME and showed theyโ€™re never too young to make a difference.

We covered:
โœจ What Emergency Medicine doctors & PAs do
โœจ How STEM connects to healthcare ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“
โœจ How to recognize an emergency ๐Ÿšจ
โœจ Calling 911 & getting help ๐Ÿ“ž
โœจ Checking for breathing ๐Ÿ‘€
โœจ Hands-only CPR using the โ€œBaby Sharkโ€ beat ๐Ÿฆˆ๐ŸŽถ
โœจ Choking rescue basics ๐Ÿ™Œ

The best part? Watching every student confidently jump in to practice being a real-life hero ๐Ÿ’ชโค๏ธ

Big shoutout to Emily Samp, PA-C for representing UTH-EM at the 2026 Conference in The Big Easy! โšœ๏ธ๐ŸŽท๐Ÿฉบ

Emily recently presented a lecture focused on ectopic pregnancy recognition, diagnosis, and the UT OB MSE process for rapid triaging of early trimester pregnant patients in the Emergency Department ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿคฐ๐Ÿ“š

While at the conference, she also served as faculty for the iScan26 POCUS competition hosted by SPOCUS (Society of Point of Care Ultrasound) ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ“ก With 44 PA student teams competing, Emily helped facilitate a patient case station where students used Lung, DVT, and Cardiac ultrasound skills to work through real-time clinical scenarios ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ‘

And because itโ€™s New Orleansโ€ฆ apparently Mardi Gras-themed ultrasound education is a thing now ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ“ฟ

Awesome to see our faculty continuing to teach, mentor, and share their expertise on the national stage while helping train the next generation of clinicians ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This past Sunday, our team was on the field for the Gamblers vs Orlando Storm game ๐Ÿˆโšก๏ธ

We provided sideline coverage to support athlete safety and respond to injuries/emergencies as needed ๐Ÿš‘๐ŸŸ๏ธ

This weekโ€™s resident on coverage was PGY1 Chandni Aghera, who has interests in sports medicine and ultrasound, so youโ€™ll likely see her back out on the field in future events! ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ“ก๐Ÿ‘

On to the next one ๐Ÿ”œ๐Ÿ”ฅ
