Before the relics, there were fragments...
Textures.
Collages.
Cracks.
Portals.
Fire.
Dark nights of the soul.

This was myself slowly unraveling-
Healing, Transforming.

I didn't realize I had been creating this body of work for years. Quietly. Instinctively like roots growing beneath the surface.

💀 Death has always been my favorite doorway.

I love death.
Not in a morbid or macabre way, but because it’s a portal-
a doorway to a new path.

I’ve been drawn to themes of transformation and rebirth for a long time. It never gets old, because every doorway leads to something new: new opportunities, new adventures, new ways of living and being.

That’s why I love skulls.
They represent the endings of what’s no longer aligned and the permanent reminder of the truth beneath the surface.

Butterflies are not only beautiful, magical creatures,
they are the living embodiment of metamorphosis-
the calm after the chaos, the emergence from the void.

This piece represents life and death in their synergistic cycle of endings and beginnings. I've died and been reborn countless times.

The most beautiful part of death is the surrender-
the moment you allow yourself to die in order to be reborn into something more beautiful than you imagined.
That takes faith, courage, and the belief that you are worth dying for.

I just experienced one of my most radical rebirths to date,
and it felt right to share this piece with you now.
I hope it inspires you to take the leap into your next chapter.

“Nelly” slid into my DMs claiming to be a "Curatorial Assistant at Google Arts & Culture" (because… sure) offering me a spot in a virtual exhibition with collectors just itching to spend $45,000+ on my work.

Sounds flattering, right?

Except…

❌ His account was as new as a blank canvas — and twice as sketchy.
❌ Every question about cost or company got the dodgeball treatment.
❌ When I asked for basic clarity, he called me “stressful” and ghosted! 😂

Apparently doing due diligence makes you “stressful” now? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also — fun fact — Google Arts & Culture is a nonprofit platform showcasing museum archives and public-domain works.
It’s not a shop. It doesn’t sell art. And it’s certainly not affiliated with “Nelly Blakes” and his 3-week-old profile page.

So here’s your reminder:

👉 Asking for receipts isn’t rude — it’s smart.
👉 Having standards doesn’t make you “difficult.”
👉 If someone gets defensive when you ask all the questions… you’re doing something right.

Protect your work. Stay sharp. Trust your intuition.

Hummingbird birds and their medicine have always had a special place in my heart. I received the biggest dose of their medicine in the life changing Lifepath Manifesting program created by my guru These tiny, precious creatures embark on the most epic journey TWICE each year, traveling hundreds of miles across the Gulf of Mexico, flying nearly 24 hours nonstop to reach their destinations. Each bird travels solo and instinctively decides on the best time to take flight depending on environmental factors. Not only do these little birds teach us to focus on our goals, trust ourselves and persevere, they also teach us to constantly seek out the nectar, or joy in life, no matter what the circumstances are around us. They teach us to access the joy and love that intrinsically exists within each of us.

The medicine in this artwork is inspiring you to seek joy amidst the chaos of the world. The black represents the dark night of the soul that we must walk through to clear the blocks and heal the wounds so we can innately FEEL the joy within and live it ALL the time, as it becomes our vibration. The lotus flower holds much symbolism and meaning, including rebirth, transcendence, enlightenment, beauty and purity, but it also represents the kingdom of God accessible within each of us.

Happy Monday friends! I'm lonnnng overdue for an art update and if you saw my story today, this lovely piece popped up in my memories from a year ago!! 🙈 As an artist, one thing I struggle with is when a work is finished because you can literally keep working on a piece forever. Especially if you have a perfectionist habit, which I have largely healed from. In visiting with this piece today, I feel it's pretty much done, except I wanna add some detail to the additional lotus flowers I added. I previously felt the composition was unbalanced and added the two lotuses to bring more balance and harmony to the piece. What do you feel? Do you ever struggle to know when a project is finished? Heads up- did you know I create mixed media, commemorative portraits? I start with a photograph, either provided by you or taken by me, edit it or print it to transfer on to the support which can be a wood panel, canvas or paper. Then I add paint and collage a variety of textures, depending on the desired outcome. My goal is to capture the energy and personality of the subject based on the details you give me. This would make a great gift to yourself or a loved one, or an awesome way to honor the memory of a loved one who has passed. I'm happy to do pets as well!

Y'all know I love my synthpop music, but I also love good guitar rock. Two weeks ago today, I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing the on their with the , another great guitar rock band that I hadn't paid much attention to, but am now a fan. The show was downstairs at , and with about 200 people in attendance, still felt very intimate. It was my 2nd time to WOMH and I love it more each time I go. They have top notch, high quality sound systems so the music sounds amazing wherever you are in the venue.

I enjoyed this show up close to the stage on the left, but was not crowded or blocked by other people, a huge plus as a petite woman. They played all my favorite songs and I got lost in WH's voice and the ethereal guitar melodies. These guys have been playing music since I was a little girl (I celebrated my 47th birthday the day after the show) and still rock. I've been a fan since my early 20's.

If I could I only choose one word to describe the evening, it would be PASSIONATE. The passion each performer has for his craft, and each audience member had for the music played, was so palpable you could cut it with a knife. It was truly a gift to be able to experience it, especially since it was their last time touring the US. This definitely goes in my top 10 favorite concerts of all times.

Fu***ng amazing show and best I've seen in a long time. with .band at my old haunt and favorite Houston venue on Monday night.

I just discovered Cold Cave a month or two ago when their brilliant song "Confetti" came on my music stream. How I hadn't heard them before is beyond me, but better late than never. WE's lyrics are very poetic and the music is just mesmerizing, danceable and cool, especially with some Cure and New Order influence sprinkled. Ricki was the opener and she has an amazing voice and very sexy dance moves which made for an engaging performance with the synthpop music.

I had so much fun and it was the perfect way to kick off my birthday week, which is tomorrow. 🎉

So here it is with the plastic removed which came out better than I thought. My next step was to put some ashes on it but now I'm not so sure...🤔

The inspiration was unexpected as I used a paper bow from a pack of black canvases I bought at the end of last year and hadn't opened. I felt drawn to start with a black canvas last night l, saw the bow and decided to burn the edges. I had some grief come up and the bow reminded me of the picture perfect life narcissists love to create which is all an illusion. They will go to great lengths to show what a perfect family they have when behind closed doors, you are shamed, manipulated and gas lit thus silently suffering inside. I saw the bow, said f**k that and decided to burn the edges. The textured background is fragmented and chaotic which represents how living with a narc is. My next thought was to get some caution tape to put over it but I think I will sit with it for now. Maybe it's done. What do you feel?
