Meet our new Getting Ahead facilitators!
We’re thrilled to welcome Lizmarie — a Getting Ahead graduate who’s come full circle. Through the program she found empowerment and real-life change, and now she’s stepping up to guide others on that same journey.
Also joining us is Maggie from Central Houston Methodist Church, a strong and trusted partner of Main Street Ministries. Maggie is excited to serve as a facilitator and help more people get ahead.
Please join us in congratulating Liz Marie and Maggie!

Summer should be a time for kids to play — not a season of impossible choices for parents. At Main Street Ministries we see how poverty is an everyday problem: when school ends, families living paycheck-to-paycheck lose reliable meals, face sky-high daycare costs, can’t afford camp, and endure longer or costlier commutes for work or programs. Parents juggle unpredictable schedules, exhausted from finding safe places for their children, stretching every dollar for food, and missing work when childcare falls through. The hidden toll is stress, shame, and fewer opportunities for kids to learn and socialize.
We can help. Support local summer meal programs, volunteer or donate to community childcare and youth centers, and push for policies that expand affordable childcare, summer meal access, and reliable transit for families. Main Street Ministries is working with neighbors and partners to fill these gaps — but we need your help. No parent should have to choose between feeding their child and keeping a job.
Get involved with Main Street Ministries: donate, volunteer, or join our advocacy efforts.

People sometimes ask why I get so passionate about this work.
And the truth is—
I’ve sat on the curb right outside our building beside someone who was considering ending their
life.
I’ve encountered individuals so overwhelmed, so desperate for change,
that I could physically feel the weight of their urgency.
And in those moments… something happens.
I can’t fully explain it, but it feels like something bigger than me takes over.
I treat every one of those encounters as if it might be the only chance I get
to show them the kind of love that I have experienced from God.
Because sometimes what people need most…
is not a perfect answer—
It’s a moment of connection.
A reminder that they matter.
A glimpse of hope."
-Esmeralda Reyes, Int. Exec. Director
"Grateful for Operation ID. They helped me get my driver's license when I couldn't do it myself. Peace of mind, freedom to drive my kids and get to work."
That's a win.
Grateful doesn’t quite capture it.
For many, a driver’s license is routine. But for some, it’s the difference between being stuck and stepping forward. Operation ID stepped in at a moment when doing it alone wasn’t possible—and that support changed everything.
What followed wasn’t just a piece of plastic. It was peace of mind. It was the ability to show up for work without uncertainty. It was the freedom to drive my kids where they need to be. It was dignity, independence, and stability restored.
These are the wins that don’t always make headlines—but they ripple into stronger families, more reliable employees, and more resilient communities.
Access creates opportunity. And sometimes, something as simple as an ID can open the door to all of it.

Hacia Adelante | Getting Ahead – Spanish Graduates Class #54 🎓✨
“This class was a challenge—but God places us in the right place, at the right time.”
Our graduates leave with more than knowledge—they’ve built confidence, community, and lasting friendships. With support from their families, they pushed through challenges, found their voices, and are ready to apply what they’ve learned—whether in business, life, or personal growth.
They move forward with a new perspective, strength, and purpose… hacia adelante. 👏
Congratulations, Class #54—you inspire us all!
Pregnant at 15, facing homelessness, and losing everything.
A pruned tree taught her about new beginnings and bearing good fruit. True transformation comes from letting go and finding community.

They come back—
Because they’ve found something real:
Community.
Dignity.
Hope." - Esmeralda Reyes, Int. Executive Director

On April 23rd, our Class 54 from Spanish Life Empowerment will be graduating! We would love for you to be part of it. This is a celebration of their hard work, growth, and achievement.
We’re looking for a few volunteers from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM to help with serving food and cleaning up. It’s a fun, meaningful way to celebrate our graduates and support their big moment.
We’re also looking for donations such as a case of water, soda, or coffee that we can prepare the night of the event, if you’d prefer to contribute that way.
We truly appreciate your support of Main Street Ministries and our programs.
If you’re able to volunteer or help by donating, please email Diana Miller
