Angelecia Stewart has devoted her life to making a difference through education, awareness, and trauma recovery. Angel is a mental health advocate, global transformational speaker, and author specializing in family group therapy, substance abuse disorders, childhood trauma, domestic violence, s*xual trauma, anxiety, depression, and mental illnesses. In addition to advocating for mental health awareness and therapy, she uses her personal experiences of being a survivor and education to provide insight into the psychological effects that trauma creates and how to overcome them. Angel is committed to helping individuals heal from their past to live authentically empowered lives.

She has an extensive background working with survivors of abuse and trauma in various settings, including as an educator, therapist, and case manager. She is passionate about helping others unmute their voices and breaking mental health barriers by providing a safe space for those seeking help. Unfortunately, the stigmas surrounding individuals seeking mental health disorders not only prevent these individuals from getting therapy but also increase the rates of dysfunctional generational behaviors among families, leading to social issues such as mental illness, addiction, and family breakdown.

Angel uses a holistic approach to therapy, which means she addresses your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. She believes that to overcome traumas, experience change, and find balance in your life, you first must start with the forgiveness of self. Angel has successfully helped clients work through traumas, including molestation, domestic violence, and emotional abuse. So whether you are suffering from low self-esteem due to substance abuse, emotional abuse, addiction, or PTSD, Angel will provide treatment tailored for you to produce the changes you need to feel whole again.
Angel is a member of the American Counseling Association, the National Pinnacle Honor
Society, and the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Infidelity, which involves a breach of trust in a committed relationship, can have significant implications for mental health. Here are some ways in which infidelity may impact mental well-being:

Emotional Distress:
The discovery of infidelity often leads to intense emotional distress. Feelings of betrayal, shock, anger, sadness, and confusion can contribute to a range of mental health challenges.

Anxiety and Depression:
Infidelity can trigger or exacerbate anxiety and depression. The sense of loss, insecurity, and emotional turmoil associated with the aftermath of infidelity can contribute to mental health struggles.

Low Self-Esteem:
Individuals who have experienced infidelity may struggle with feelings of inadequacy, leading to a decline in self-esteem. The betrayal can create a sense of worthlessness and impact one's self-image.

Trust Issues:
Infidelity can shatter trust in a relationship. Trust issues may persist even in future relationships, making it challenging to establish and maintain healthy connections.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD):
In some cases, the trauma of infidelity can lead to symptoms resembling PTSD. Flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, and heightened emotional responses may be present.

Physical Health Impact:
The stress and emotional toll of infidelity can have physical health consequences, such as sleep disturbances, changes in appetite, and overall compromised well-being.

Impact on Children and Family:
If a family is involved, the repercussions of infidelity can extend to children and other family members, impacting their mental health as well.

Coping Mechanisms:
Individuals may resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as substance abuse, excessive alcohol consumption, or other risky behaviors to numb the emotional pain caused by infidelity.

Relationship conflicts, unemployment, and substance use behaviors are among the most common factors contributing to poor mental health in former inmates. To avoid these problems, recently released prisoners need formal guidance on accessing social services, getting connected to the mental health system, and re-engaging with the community as formerly incarcerated individuals. - verywellmind.com/mental-health-effects-facing-former-inmates-5195312

Core Values

Responsiveness: We strive to offer our very best, in a timely and efficient manner, to be as helpful as possible, and to do everything we can, for everyone we serve, every time.

Responsiveness is treating everyone we encounter with the level of care we would want for our own family members.

Effectiveness: We believe in continuously improving our professional competence through ongoing education, consultation, experience, and reflection. Effectiveness means knowing and implementing the best treatment practices available, practicing within our areas of expertise, and referring clients to other resources whenever it is in their best interest.

Autonomy: We believe that the individual dedication of our practitioners to their calling is our greatest strength to successfully navigate the constantly evolving business aspects of the mental healthcare industry. Autonomy is the development of individual interests, talents, and specialties by our clinical staff so that each clinician experiences ownership of his or her practice within the framework of a shared corporate identity.

Sensitivity: We appreciate and respect the diversity and cultural differences of our clients and take into account the many multidimensional aspects of their lives. We strive to provide services that reflect the context of the client's presenting issue and needs and to do so in a sensitive and caring manner.

Empathy: We strive to identify with our clients' situations and to have a sense of their feelings and emotions related to their needs. Offering a high level of empathy enhances trust and the quality of care that our clients deserve.

Resources: We believe that solicitation and prudent utilization of resources is essential to providing effectual behavioral healthcare to our clients. We continually seek appropriate resources to meet our clients' needs.

Virtue: We assist clients in determining what is right or wrong for them; and what works or does not work for them (Prudence). We uphold clients' rights and advocate for them (Justice). We encourage clients to remain steadfast in their recovery (Fortitude). We help clients achieve a healthy balance between legitimate needs versus inordinate wants (Temperance).

Integrity: We strongly uphold moral and ethical principles in our daily practice and in the delivery of services. Our clients entrust their wellness to our professional care and expect to be treated, and to receive treatment, in a manner that honors professional codes and standards.

Caring, Concern, & Compassion: We embrace and uphold these attributes throughout our practice of service as our client's well-being is foremost in the minds and hearts of everyone associated with We SAGE Health and Wellness. Our professional staff are here because they believe in and promote the We SAGE mission, vision, and values.

Environment: We value our clients' well-being and strive to provide a professional and friendly atmosphere in which they feel welcome and trusting; an environment conducive to the sensitive nature of their needs and to the settings in which our professionals provide treatment to meet those needs.

"I have a passion and unique skillset for seeing individuals within their life systems (i.e., family, career, school, church, community, etc.) and utilizing a contextual and systems perspective to honor the intersections of identity a person navigates every day. I have a strong desire to work with individuals, couples, and families within marginalized communities who have dealt with trauma/PTSD, complicated grief, anxiety, depression, relational issues/dysfunction, anger and/or pain management, and adjustment issues. I work collaboratively with my clients to assist them in exploring thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about behaviors while building toward sustainable change in areas the client has identified needed change. My motto is β€œBeing well within is how you WIN”.

Previously, I worked in a community counseling clinic where I spent a significant amount of time engaging in research, service, and training activities that have prepared me to provide culturally responsive, effective, and impactful services by approaching each client with the care and humility they deserve. I believe in honoring the emotional vulnerability of each client by fostering a space of safety and connection."

Sometimes people experience unwanted, sudden, and involuntary thoughts that are uncomfortable and disturbing, despite originating from their minds. These thoughts might be violent or a fear that they’re about to do something inappropriate or embarrassing. Whatever the thought is, it likely brings on feelings of worry or shame, which is also why many people have kept these thoughts a secret. Plus, the more they try to push the thought out of their mind, the stickier it gets.

If this sounds familiar, you’ve probably experienced intrusive thoughts. They can be a menace to our mental health, and because there is such a stigma around them, people misunderstand these thoughts to signal something wrong within them. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth! Click through to learn everything you need to know about intrusive thoughts. - https://rpb.li/ZxCYH

All of these mental health careers require state licensing to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, based on the DSM-5. The specific licensing requirements vary by state, specialty, and job function.

To become a fully licensed independent professional counselor, therapist, or psychologist, you must have a set number of experience hours practicing under a licensed professional, often around two years of full-time experience or the equivalent.

Counselors: In general, counselors help clients deal with a specific issue affecting their mental well-being, rather than ongoing mental health issues. They are more likely to offer solution-focused support than psychotherapy, though they may use both. Depending on the state and specialty, some types of counseling, especially substance misuse counseling, require a license but not a master's degree.

Therapists: Therapists and counselors have similar training and roles, though therapists specialize in providing psychotherapy. Many therapy programs are dedicated to marriage and family issues. Therapists must have at least a master's degree to practice.

Psychologists: Psychologists have a doctorate in psychology, either a Psy.D. or a Ph.D., giving them a broader background in psychology than counselors or therapists. They also typically earn more, which can be a factor in the psychologist vs. therapist career decision.

Psychiatrists: Psychiatrists are the only group in this list authorized to prescribe medications. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health, so they have the longest education period in these professions.

The more you act consistent with emotions, the stronger the feeling becomes. If you isolate in your room because you are feeling depressed, then your depression is likely to increase. If you avoid people because you are anxious, then your anxiety will increase. If you are feeling frustrated and talk in a gruff manner, then your frustration will probably grow.

Emotions have actions that naturally follow and these actions work like a feedback system to the brain to confirm the emotion. If you are staying in your room then the message to your brain is that you are depressed. Acting consistent with depression then increases the intensity of the emotion. In addition, acting in mood-dependent ways often has undesirable consequences.

When you recognize the feeling you are having, such as depression, and the action that naturally follows, such as withdrawal, you have an opportunity to change your emotion by acting differently.

These mindful habits are fantastic for promoting a sense of presence, self-awareness, and well-being. Let's explore the significance of each:

Be present in the moment:
Focusing on the present moment cultivates mindfulness. By avoiding multitasking and distractions, you engage fully in the task at hand, fostering a sense of clarity and intention.

Do a body scan:
A body scan encourages awareness of physical sensations and surroundings. It promotes a connection between the mind and body, helping to identify areas of tension and fostering a sense of groundedness.

Practice mindful journaling:
Mindful journaling is a powerful tool for self-reflection. By recording thoughts and emotions each morning, you create a space for introspection, fostering a deeper understanding of your inner world and promoting emotional well-being.

Practice mindful breathing exercises:
Mindful breathing is a cornerstone of mindfulness. Incorporating daily breathing exercises helps anchor you to the present moment, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being. It's a simple yet effective way to bring focus and calm into your daily routine.

Incorporating these habits into your daily life can contribute to a more mindful and intentional existence. Whether it's through focused attention, body awareness, journaling, or conscious breathing, each practice offers a unique pathway to enhanced self-awareness and a more balanced and centered life.

An inferiority complex is an overwhelming feeling of inadequacy. People suffering from this psychological condition may experience chronic self-doubt, have low self-esteem, and feel insecure about themselves. Furthermore, they regard themselves as in some way deficient to others. Indeed, all other people appear superior.

It's important to note that an inferiority complex is not a diagnosable mental health disorder. Instead, clinicians use low self-esteem as one possible symptom when they assess for other psychological problems. These include anxiety disorders and depressive disorders. Can an inferiority complex be overcome? The answer is yes. But it will take time. In the first instance, treatment will involve psychotherapy. Read more: https://rpb.li/jAOENh

Effects of financial stress on your health
While we all know deep down there are many more important things in life than money, when you’re struggling financially fear and stress can take over your world. It can damage your self-esteem, make you feel flawed, and fill you with a sense of despair. When financial stress becomes overwhelming, your mind, body, and social life can pay a heavy price.

Insomnia or other sleep difficulties. Nothing will keep you tossing and turning at night more than worrying about unpaid bills or a loss of income.

Weight gain (or loss). Stress can disrupt your appetite, causing you to anxiously overeat or skip meals to save money.

Depression. Living under the cloud of money problems can leave anyone feeling down, hopeless, and struggling to concentrate or make decisions. According to a study at the University of Nottingham in the UK, people who struggle with debt are more than twice as likely to suffer from depression.

Anxiety. Money can be a safety net; without it, you may feel vulnerable and anxious. And all the worrying about unpaid bills or loss of income can trigger anxiety symptoms such as a pounding heartbeat, sweating, shaking, or even panic attacks.

Relationship difficulties. Money is often cited as the most common issue couples argue about. Left unchecked, financial stress can make you angry and irritable, cause a loss of interest in s*x, and wear away at the foundations of even the strongest relationships.

10 Habits to Improve Your Productivity

Prioritize tasks:
By prioritizing tasks, you focus on what truly matters. It helps you allocate your time and energy efficiently, ensuring that important and impactful tasks are addressed first.

Break down big projects:
Breaking down large projects into smaller, manageable tasks makes the workload less overwhelming. It provides a clearer roadmap, making it easier to progress step by step.

Eliminate distractions:
Minimizing distractions enhances concentration and efficiency. Creating a dedicated work environment and managing digital distractions help maintain focus on the task at hand.

Take breaks:
Regular breaks prevent burnout and maintain cognitive function. They contribute to overall well-being, refreshing your mind and increasing productivity when you return to work.

Stay organized:
Organization reduces stress and saves time. Having a clutter-free workspace and utilizing tools like calendars and to-do lists help streamline workflow and enhance productivity.

Use productivity tools:
Leveraging productivity tools automates tasks, facilitates collaboration, and improves efficiency. Tools such as project management software or time-tracking apps can optimize your workflow.

Avoid multitasking:
Focusing on one task at a time enhances productivity and quality of work. Multitasking can lead to errors and increased stress levels, hindering overall efficiency.

Set deadlines:
Deadlines create a sense of urgency and structure. They motivate you to stay on track and complete tasks in a timely manner, promoting productivity and accountability.

Take care of yourself:
Self-care is fundamental to productivity. A healthy lifestyle, including adequate sleep, nutrition, and exercise, positively impacts your energy levels, cognitive function, and overall productivity.

Learn to say no:
Setting boundaries and saying no when necessary is crucial for managing workload and avoiding overwhelm. It allows you to focus on tasks aligned with your priorities and goals.

Incorporating these habits into your daily routine cultivates a productive mindset and fosters a work environment conducive to success. Remember, the key is consistency and finding a balance that works for you.
