Today, South Haven Health and Rehabilitation was honored by the City of Hoover Historical Society as being one of the very first businesses to operate in Hoover, predating the city itself. South Haven H&R was opened in 1964 by the Skelton Family and has run continuously to the present. It serves as one of the premiere nursing home facilities in the local area! A Great Honor today... Celebrating a Great Family and their decades-long contributions to the City of Hoover, Alabama!

We are proud to announce that on Friday, 5/6/22, at 10:00 a.m., the Hoover Historical Society and Mayor Frank Brocato will dedicate a historical marker to South Haven, the oldest nursing home in Hoover and one of the first in Jefferson County. South Haven has significant ties to the beginning of the city and has been in continuous operation since 1964, three years before the city was incorporated. Please join us for this exciting event with a reception to follow.

Today, we were honored to be presented with this new member plaque from the Hoover Chamber of Commerce. Our Administrator accepted it for us and we have already hung it on the wall in our lobby for all our visitors to see 🙂

GREAT NEWS! South Haven Health & Rehabilitation is getting a new parking lot next week! We are SO excited to get this little "glow up" for our building!

We are still allowing visitors, but since the parking lot will be CLOSED, we are asking all our families and vendors to park next door at Love Stuff or in the parking lot next to us on the hill.

We had a great time at Hoover Senior Center today speaking with all the members about South Haven and the services we offer!

Happy National Employee Appreciation Day!! We celebrated our WONDERFUL staff by giving them a pizza lunch and this cute tiny token of appreciation.

South Haven has the BEST staff around & we are VERY thankful for everything they do every day for our residents!

...and we conclude our look at Black History Month with a historical piece that took place just this past week as Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson became the first Black Female nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Jackson was born in Washington DC, but grew up in Miami, Florida. She stood out as a high achiever at an early age. She was a speech and debate star who was elected “mayor” of Palmetto Junior High, then student body president of Miami Palmetto Senior High School. When Judge Jackson told her guidance counselor she wanted to attend Harvard, the counselor warned her that she should not set her sights so high.
Well... she then went on to graduate magna cm laude from Harvard University, then attended Harvard Law School, where she graduated cm laude and became editor of the Harvard Law Review. The lesson here? Go ahead & let people tell you 'you can't do it'... then prove them wrong!
Congratulations to Judge Jackson and we wish her 'Good Luck & Godspeed' as she moves forward to become one of the leaders of our Nation!🇺🇸
