I grew up staying pretty active, but never really worked out until about 10 years ago. I started going to a small boot camp class and then to Orangetheory and loved the group classes. I did that until I was 7 months pregnant. Fast forward a year and a half and I had a one-year-old and felt gross and out of shape.

Driving to work one day, I saw a sign for Burn Boot Camp and knew that’s what I wanted to do. I signed up from the beginning and have loved it since. I originally wanted to lose baby weight and I have lost that and more! Through focus meetings, I have gotten my eating habits under control and it’s become a way of life. I honestly love coming to class every day and hate when I have to miss it!

Not only have I lost weight, inches, and body fat, but I’ve gained strength, friends, and healthy habits. Overall, I’ve lost over 20 lbs, 13 inches, and 10 percent body fat.

There’s a sign in the gym that says “ If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”. This is something I say to myself daily as a reminder that I can do hard things!

▶️Burger Bowls Meat

- 1 pound ground beef any %
- 4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon avocado or refined coconut oil

▶️Burger Bowls

- 2 small heads romaine sliced and root discarded
- 1 1/2 cups cherry or grape tomatoes halved
- 1/2 cup pickles plus more to taste
- 1 cup red onion thinly sliced
- 8-10 slices bacon cooked til crisp and roughly crumbled
- 2 avocados peeled and pitted
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

▶️Special Sauce

- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
- 2 teaspoon maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon dill pickle relish
- 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
- Pinch crushed red pepper
- pinch salt


In a medium bowl, mix together beef, garlic powder, and salt. Heat avocado or coconut oil in a large skillet, preferably cast iron, over medium heat, then add beef and brown, crumbling with a spatula or spoon.

Meanwhile, prepare remaining elements for the burger bowls.

Make quick guacamole: In a medium bowl, mash together avocado, lemon juice, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Make the special sauce: whisk together all special sauce ingredients, using coconut aminos only if you're on a Whole30 and skipping the maple syrup. If you're NOT on a Whole30, skip the coconut aminos and use the maple syrup only. Set aside.

When beef is browned and crumbled, remove from skillet and return skillet to medium heat. Add red onions in a single layer and cook until lightly charred on the bottom, then flip. Cook until lightly charred on the second side then remove and repeat until all onions are lightly cooked.

Assemble: start with a layer of romaine in your serving bowls, then spoon 1/4 of the ground beef mixture into the center.

Arrange remaining items around the beef: tomatoes, pickles, red onion, bacon, and quick guacamole. Drizzle with plenty of special sauce and serve.

Hey Burn Family! You have probably seen me wrangling my three boys into Burn with me sometime over the past year. We have three boys, Thatch (4), Finn (20 months) and Cohen (12 months). They all love coming to Burn with me! Our middle son Finn receives early intervention services at The Bell Center. The Bell Center is an incredible place that provides life-changing services for children like speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and special education. In his time there, he has made incredible strides in his development and we are forever grateful. Their biggest fundraiser of the year is the Mercedes Marathon and it has been cancelled due to Covid. This year they are asking runners to run during the month of April in honor of a Bell Center child and to make a donation to the Bell Center. I will be running 5k on April 18 and would love for any Burn sisters interested in running or donating (or both) to join me!

While I came to Burn right after it opened, I did not attend regularly at the beginning. In August 2019, I
became more consistent in attending classes but never scheduled a focus meeting. I lost weight, but did not focus on nutrition. In November 2019, actually while at Burn, I realized I was pregnant with my second child because I was so dizzy during the class. The trainers were so helpful with modifications during that season (even on the Zoom classes when the gym was closed). Throughout pregnancy, I worked out every day on FB live and continued virtually after having my son.

In May of 2021, my husband encouraged me to start going back to the gym. I knew he was right; I wasn’t pushing myself in the way that I am challenged in the gym (thank you, trainers!). My goal was to finish losing the baby weight by my son’s first birthday. The hardest part with coming back was that I wasn’t sure when to fit it in with a demanding schedule. I was completing the home workouts at random times in the afternoon and knew that the only time that I could be consistent was in the morning and that seemed impossible.

However, I started attending the 6 a.m. class and loved it. I also scheduled focus meetings and learned more about nutrition (protein, what!?) and began lifting heavier weights, which I never thought I would say. I have lost 21 pounds, am down 10 inches, and down 9% body fat. I have surpassed my initial goals but want to keep
going. I’m grateful for my family’s support, because it’s become a family affair. When my husband is out of town, my dad comes over to stay with my sleeping kids at 5:45 am while I go to class. It’s been a blessing to be a part of the sunrise sisters, and I’m so grateful for the Burn community.

Our Story

Burn Boot Camp is a fitness community where like-minded women come together, build confidence, and inspire one another through fitness. Camps are offered multiple times throughout the day, last 45 minutes, and are comprised of 72 different styles and 15 different formats. Workouts take place on our proprietary Floating Floor with individualized attention in a group fitness setting. Clients learn far more than just healthy eating and exercise tips at Burn Boot Camp, as the concept strays from the competition by operating on a five pillar philosophy to help clients achieve success: mindset, whole food nutrition, burst training, strength training and positive environment.
