Most beginners leave their camera on auto and wonder why their footage doesn’t look cinematic.
Here’s the exact setup I use on my Sony Cinema:

- Frame Rate → 25fps for natural motion blur and that cinematic feel. Adjust based on your shooting conditions.
- File Format → XAVC S 4K. More data, more flexibility in post.
- Record Setting → 100M 4:2:2 10bit minimum. Don’t shortchange your colour grade before it even starts.
- Creative Style → Standard or Neutral. Let S-Log do the heavy lifting.
- Focus Mode → Continuous AF. Fast transition speed, responsive subject tracking.
- White Balance → Manual Kelvin. Auto white balance shifts mid-shot and kills consistency.
- Picture Profile → Use LOG regardless what camera brand you use. Maximum dynamic range for grading latitude.
- Colour Space → sRGB. Clean, compatible, consistent.
- Stabilisation → On for handheld. Off when you’re on a gimbal or tripod, fighting two stabilisers hurts your footage.
