Take a walk through my personal gallery.
Every piece here is a season I’ve lived through, not just a painting I made. The blues that held grief. The colors that showed up when I finally started feeling things again. Each one poured out of a real moment, and I know exactly what I was carrying when I made it.
Sending one of these to a new home means more to me than I can explain in a caption. It means someone saw themselves in it too.
If one of these is speaking to you, send me a DM. I’d love to talk about which piece is yours 🤍
My paintings often end up very different from where they started, and I think that’s a reflection of my own experiences
Just like my paintings, my life started with a lot of chaos and I’ve worked really hard to create structure and stability. What I’ve learned through all of the adversity and change I have experienced is that we are always in the process of becoming.
I leave a part of myself, the unhealed version in the early layers of every painting. It’s my favorite part of my painting process.
People always remember how you made them feel and I was reminded week of that lesson. I’ve always wanted to be a leader that supported the people around me in a meaningful way.
I didn’t always get it right, but I certainly tried. There can be so much pressure in high paced corporate environments that it’s easy to forget at the core of it. We are all people trying to show up and make the best of every day.
I hope this is a reminder to tell the people who have impacted you in a positive way that they have done so. It really means so much.
I think we should give artists and creatives a lot of credit for their ability to fail. I think it’s an important life skill that I am relearning as I spend this sabbatical living a more creative life.
I think a healthy relationship with failure freeze you up to try things you wouldn’t normally do if you condition yourself to realize that failure is part of the process and not the ultimate end you can build up so much resilience towards all kinds of challenges in life
This sabbatical is teaching me all kinds of things about myself, and I continue to see signs that this is one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself
Comment if failure is something you have also had to learn to appreciate.
These two oil landscapes have gone to their forever home.
There’s something magical in seeing someone else love what you have created. To know a piece of you lives on somewhere else.
Last weekend I went to a local TEDx conference and heard Rae’Mah Henderson speak about the concept of liminality and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.
I didn’t realize a word existed to describe what I am currently experience experiencing, and somehow, knowing that there is a word makes me realize this feeling is human and universal
