A proper trim on ribs… and Plowboys Yardbird rub. Still my go to rib rub along with a little sugar in the raw.

Come on down to Aurora, CO this weekend for a new BBQ festival. Looks to be a lot of fun, and we will be competing. Competition starts on Friday night, and the main event takes place on Saturday. Please help support this new local event!

Buskers, Brews & BBQ - City of Aurora

Well, we finished up the 3rd annual NWSS BBQ Throwdown yesterday. After battling weather-related issues such as a frozen controller on the cooker which caused us to cook at 180* for most of our cooking process, we survived and eked out some decent results. We finished with 2nd place in chicken (179.4400 tied for 1st place -- lost the tiebreaker), finished 5th in pork, and finished 9th overall out of 38 great teams. Congrats to Travis Clark of Clark Crew BBQ on GC, and You Qued Me All Night Long on RGC. A very well run contest, and a fun event as well! Thanks to Arlie Bragg, Morgan Topolnocki, and Tom Hollinshead for all of your hard work! Thanks to my good buddy Ryan McBreen for helping me out his weekend!

I see that Kansas Winter Q is back on the schedule for 2017... on March 10-11... anyone confirm or hear from the organizers? Would love to book that comp.

Swinestone Cowboys will be competing at the National Western BBQ Throwdown on Jan. 6-7, at the National Western Complex in Denver. 40 teams will be there, including some of the nation's best. Come out and say "hello" if you're in the area. More details on the competition are below:

SPECIAL EVENTS Find your western spirit!

Well, Swinestone Cowboys had our FIRST cook of 2016 at the Arvada on Tap event, and it went better than expected. Out of 35 teams we finished 5th Chicken, 16th Ribs, 5th Pork, and 1st in Brisket. It was enough for us to end up as Reserve Grand Champion! Congrats to my good friends Tom & Judy with Scorch & Rescue on their second GC of the year!! Also, big congrats to everyone who heard their name called! Thank you to Kosmo's Q for all of the great BBQ products! Also, a big thanks to Todd @ Plowboys BBQ for some great rubs!

Swinestone Cowboys will be making our first appearance this year at the Arvada On Tap BBQ contest. We'll be competing against about 40 other teams, trying to repeat as Grand Champions.
